Ok heres my problem.Ilove the new sport 1000 it remindes me of those heady days of my old 900ss but with out the breakdown problems that bevelheads know so well, but the suspension erks me. Front forks have no adjustments, so maybe a smart replica i hear you say but the price is a problem. $25850 ride away its the same price as a S4RSR and the gear on that is so good it makes you weep, but i like that simple air cooled engine and retro look.Anybody ride the 1000 air cooled engine , if so will you be trying to ad to its performance or are you satified???. Can you see what i`m trying to get at I don`t want to pay for something and spend more money on it because the engine is not quite potent enough or are the 1000 plenty good enough.Anybody ride with a testeretta engine in there bike and what do you think of it.It`s a nice problem to have granted but i don`t want an expencive mistake.maybe sport bodywork on a s4rs.
And Warpy no comments about Hondas please

I believe the new 1000 is a very good motor. It's a massive step up from the old 900s in both power and delivery, there is a write up on the sport 1000 around, http://www.perthstreetbikes.com/forum/inde...c=16509&hl= there you go. It's on the paul smart, but the engine and frame are very similar( are they exactly the same?)

I love the look of them, in my oppinion the best looking duc since the 916-998

You can't go wrong

1000ds motor is as grunty as hell. i find it a bit harsh down low compared to the 916 motor, however (but more torque nonetheless) still runs out of puff at the top compared to testrastretta but that's to be expected. test ride another 1000ds motored duke to get a feel. you'll like it but it won't have the top end rush the four valvers are renowned for.

good luck

bevel drive, belt drive, desmoquattro, testastretta, desmosedici....a true evolution
-> Triumph 675, a revolution

After an F1, a 1000DS engined bike is going to feel pretty powerful. For 95% of riding, the 1000DS would have plenty of grunt.

A Paul Smart would be nice! With some conti replicas.
Click here to see my Ducati 999R in the PSB garage... You'll love it!

Don't click here to see my ZX9R aka The Ginger Ninja... there's no link!

I'm sure you could find some duke adjustable forks on ebay, would be a direct swap.

Thanks for all your replys. I saw a smart rep soom down the Tonkin Sunday with some other bikes and it did look good.My brother and I went and peered through some windows in vic park,and burswood and Frazers. I`m thinking that the titainum in my knees might have a say as to what i buy.Down to pato`s Friday and get a test ride and a look see.
Geting performance stuff done won`t be a problem because we do all the ducati shops ceramic coatings so they should treat me nice I hope
