E-Bay US Ducati's
After a quick check on ebay.com, I counted a total of 7 x D16RR's for sale.
I'm guessing that they may not pan out to be the investment everyone was thinking (which is good, cause I may be able to actually afford one.... one day)? What does everyone else think that the future may hold for these?

I don't think they'll have any trouble holding their value in Australia, especially considering there won't be too many getting around. Good luck with saving your dollars to get one. I've got a while to save to get my 848. At $23k thats a little more in my reach

~I think it's more long waiting period + onset of recession, means people want cash in their hand, as the luxury toy market is always the first thing to take a hammering.

Give it a couple of years, the new Aprilia and BMW superbikes with 200 horses, the fact that the 16RR doesn't have a single side swingarm and a v-twin engine and that there's 1500 (not much of a limited edition) and they'll drop in price.... To what I don't know - cheapest around $40k?

Even in N. America they were pretty hard to come by. I've only ever seen one and that was owned by Micheal Czysz, founder of MotoCzysz. They are sigle handedly trying to build an American GP bike.
Something this good looking never goes out of style. And remember, if it's for sale on ebay that doesn't mean it's for sale. Lots of BS and scammers out there.
Here's one of Czysz and his D16RR.

As opposed to previous Limited Release Dukes like
851 SP2 + SP3 + 888 SP4 + 888SPS + SP5
Supermono etc etc..
The release number were max 500.
888 SPS was 100
Supermono around 100 as well (I think).
What Rod means in regards to V2 is the fact it is the D16RR is a 4 Cyl
and other Manufacturers have the ability to produce a
similar Hi End model at maybe lower price.
Not a Corsa Rep V2 model.

What I meant was that the way people rave on about the 916 and 1098 and how true Ducatis have single sided swingarm, V-twin engine, dry clutch, two mufflers hung underneath the tail section etc etc. The D16RR doesn't tick all the boxes so is maybe not seen as "true Ducati" and will suffer in the eyes of the crowd. Believe me, I know that the D16RR is not a twin cylinder
And also what Jules has said. Other manufacturers will bring out similar products much cheaper. Then in three years time a D16RR for $70k (or even $50k) isn't going to look that attractive against a new BMW, Aprilia or Benelli for $35k. Even the Ducati R models suffer a bit with depreciation and they already "tick all the boxes".
I would buy a D16RR if I had $50k but then again I'm not so mainstream in my choice of bikes!
