    ETi FuelCel

Today I received a 1098 kevlar composite endurance tank from
FuelCel, Home of the Worlds best Composite Motorcycle Fuel Tanks !
It is light, very well made and should be good for more than the 120-150km's I get from the stock tank. I think this is about 24 litres.

If anyone is interested in one and wants to see it in the flesh before painting, let me know.

Nice one mate, I'd love to see progress pics..

The one thing that craps me off about the standard tank is the limited milage you can get... I know these aren't exactly tourers, but a bit more than 150ks before a refuel would be nice eh.

Be very interested to see what it looks like compared to the regular tank. Who are you going to get to paint/fit it?

Looks identical to the standard tank but about 15mm higher. You don't notice the difference. Ordered it direct from ETi, arrived within 2 weeks of order. Exchange rate is good, cost Au$2200 plus $300 airfreight. (plus 10% customs I think but not been paid yet). The painter is in midland, saw him earlier this year (card around somewhere....).

I wouldn't mind seeing it after it's on mate. I presume you're going to score all the standard decals etc?

Already got decals and full carbon. Frame being painted too. Using a candy red that is more toward oxblood (like my MkIII guzzi used to have). If the painter is ok expect to start in +1 wk.

Looks pretty strong. It would be good to see yr track bike. After knowing a mate whose MHR with glass tank that went up in flames I was always suss of non metal tanks. I don't think this one will altho one of the many warnings in the blurb is "WARNING; Composite tanks are not "malleable" like metal..., rupture of the tank can occur instead of denting.

I think they are all litigation shy over there. That warning in the blurb followed "WARNING! - WARNING! - WARNING!" about nicking the fuel quick disconnects o-rings. which could "allow fuel to leak under pressure when the engine is started!"

    Complete with exclamation! points!!.

$300 was for a list of customs and other agency fees that probably mean "ignorant sucker fee, rip him off." I have no idea if it was a good price. Thanks for the link smeghead -I might find out what they would have charged. I think $2500 is a good price for what it is, but ya never know.

And Taint, the dry clutch is Music! (I also listen to behemoth...)

I am also interested in this tank. Can't see it holding 24 litres if it is only 15 mm higher? OPP carbon tank is similar profile, with claimed 19 litre capacity.
19 would be a big improvement over standard - I could only get 14.7 into mine from run-out empty, with bike in optimum position (on uneven driveway).

Just looked it up - 21.27 litres. That is a big increase! And the first 2.5 litres without a weight penalty..
They also offer foam to reduce fuel 'sloshing' - anyone have experience with this stuff with our current fuel?
Can't help wondering why they dont just have a baffle plate inside the tank. My alloy Hailwood-style tank by Lyta (UK) had one, and was much better than the stock tank under braking.

Not that I've done much with it so far... Not until midnight + 1 second 31 October. The foam must be packed to avoid fuel pump, it came prepacked.

Had a tenere yammy 600 84 even though baffled noticed fuel slosh. Lowsided uncountable times. weight + bad rider + maybe fuel movement on direction change.

Time will tell on the foam. It is pretty stiff.

Thanks Az - I'm thinking I'll have to get one. I'll actually be in the States in a few weeks (only stopover in LA) so I might try and arrange to bring it back as luggage. With our dollar as it is it might save a bit. Still got to paint it though..
Are you doing the 'run before you paint' thing they recommend? Sounds like a bit of a hassle!
