First ride 1098S
Well guys, finally threw the leg over one of the new steeds today courtesy causeway ducati. they threw me the keys and said on your way, so i did. bike barked into life booming heavily from the full termi system, music to ones ears. idles pretty fast in comparison to the previous testrastrettas. snick first and let the clutch out to a rather grabby but positive take off. a little throttle, oh my this thing would pull stumps.
was concerned about slower handling due to geometry but this proved unfounded at town speeds. typical ducati mirrors - useless unless you like watching your elbows. will tonk along at 3000 or above but gets a little fidgety like my sps. ohlins suspenders were good, brembo brakes pretty damn sharp. i miss the classic white face of the 749/999 tacho, the led display is not easy to read at a glance. where the hell is the speed? too much information
heat from under the seat was not as intrusive as the 749, probably on par with the 748. seating position was ot as muchof a stretch as the 749 either. the jewels were not so much at risk from the tank. liked the fact that my knees rested on the fairing, good for hard braking resistance.
giving her a little more proved that the front tyre was not going to be worn out very fast in first, second, and third with any sort of a throttle roll on. puts a smile on the dial. on the open road the steering became heavier (than my 749 set on steep) but still pretty good. it's just that i am spoilt with the 749R and the triumph 675.
as for stomp........... top gear roll ons were wicked. when the revs approach 8000 in any gear get ready for a very big boot in the arse. shame the mirrors aren't much use, they would allegedly be useful for spotting who is second behind you.
along came some corners and the smile broadened, good roll in, nice sharpness and typical ducati assuredness. change of direction is very good without being brilliant. probably better than expected based on the geometry. motor was a bit lumpy but what do you expect from a 1100 L-twin.
to all you fortunate owners out there, enjoy, i certainly did. glad it wasn't a 750 otherwise i'd have to buy one.

Ha Ha!!!
Sounds good, might have to cut your leg off first and leave as a deposit.

Patto's would be a nice trip.
