Are you in marketing? is this the 'soft sell?'

$500 shipping sounds strangely low. but....

Australian ADR's operate like a tariff barrier. You get a lot more for a bike registered here becuase it is difficult to get anything in.

So, If you sell it for anything greater than about Au$15,000, you can walk in to your local US Ducati dealer and hand down cash for a brand new 848 evo.

Of course, if the 'love' argument is not a marketing ploy (insert friendly sarc smiley here) you can get a whole lot of love for the 3 or 4k balance you'd get from a quick sale here. or spend it on blinging your new US 848evo.

Then come back to Oz in 12 months and repeat the exercise.

Good point. I figure since I went through the hassle to get it registered / deal with the tariffs and ADR and whatnot here, might as well sell her here too. Once I get the faring replaced through insurance, look for an ad to go up.

My guess would be $14-16k to a dealer, $16-17k private.

The new Evos are going to knock the wind out of the older 848's somewhat, and mods don't generally add much value in terms of resale to a bike - unless you find somebody who really likes what you've done.

Evos claim 140hp at the crank stock, my bike claimed 134hp at the crank stock when I bought it, so whatever. Evos will no doubt be expensive and rare, too.

The mods I've done aren't personalisation, they are something universally desired (who would say no to a steering dampener and DP termi exhaust?). Anyway, I'll probably price it at 17K and hope it goes to a PSBer.

And stoney - more than happy to hand Mia over to Buck...

yeah 17k to a private buyer would be a pretty good result. Remember if a dealer buys it, they will likely be selling it for around that price, so they will only likely give you 14 or so for it.

what azazl says makes sense. bikes are dirt cheap over that way, and I'd say especially so about now due to their economy being in the shitter.

Because the fruit doesn't add that much value, take it with you and sell the bike stock so you don't have to spend it all again with the new bike.

If it goes well, you will probably have a fair b it of cash on your hand once you have bought the new bike over there in the states.

BN, I send you a PM. Thanks to everyone else for the advise. I am 99% sure she's going to get sold, along with a shedload of high-end gear (two arai helmets, one almost brand new, etc). Just talked to Fraser's... some of the new body panels have to come from Italy but she will be as good as the day she rolled out of the crate in less than 4 weeks. Guess I have that much time to decide, eh?

BTW, if I do sell, is this forum the best place to put up gear and such for sale?

    Awesome, thanks.

For whoever's interested, Mia's going to be 100% scratch free and ready to sell in less than 4 weeks. I will give PSBers the first shot at her before listing on the larger sites, would rather see her go to a good PSB home. Once I put it on bikesales.com.au I imagine people are going to start bidding anyway and I don't wanna have to deal with that.

Haven't decided on the gear yet but will keep everyone posted. Thanks again for the advise.
