they're just like buying a V8.
you don't buy them for their fuel economy. you buy them for the noise, the power, and the wow factor.
if we went for fuel economy, we'd all be driving Prius' and riding Vespas!!

No one buys italian and expects jap characteristics do they?
Hell, when i bought mine the factory was closed down with no promise it was going to re-open, but hell, everyone should own italian at least once, whether its nelli, Duke, MG MV or whatever i say :-)

A couple of things. When I was working at Frasers, every bike delivered, we spent time with the new owner explaining lots of things espeacially road side assist and things like keeping the revs above 3-4000 for smoother running(Ducatis)
Didnt they run through things like this with you?
Often people that have never ridden a big twin, labour them and come away thinking they are lumpy, jerky etc. They can be if trying to pull from too low in the revs with lots of throttle.
Cheers.

Brand new model, bound to have teething problems. The 848 engine and electrics are brand new design, it's not a big bore 749 motor.

Lol.
Most manufacturers managed to get electrics wired well enough to last more than 12 months a very long time ago.
New model or not, electrical circuits are by no means rocket science. They can be easily quantified and bench-tested.
Sounds more like a quality control issue (as opposed to a "new design" issue) to me - not something you'd expect to be putting up with on a bike that costs that much.

Bullshit.
This is what testing is for, before a product reaches market.
