Looks like another project on the way

Hey there Guys and Gals,
Looks like we (Casper and I) will be picking up a 98 900ss that got broken.

The guy says the Frame is cactus as is the front wheel. He says the rest is A ok.
So where does one look to get a frame and front wheel?
Anyone have any ideas what sort of dollars we would be looking at for said frame and front wheel?

Thank you in advance,
Cheers,
Cal

You are going to be looking at a fair amount of folding for a frame Jane.
Why don't you look at an old clapped out Monster, do an engine swap, and build a Hotrod Monster

Hence asking on here what people know is available, the doors open to all sorts of initiatives and funky ideas , more than one way to skin a cat as me mum used to say......

Seriously, try ebay. I found some amazing stuff when I was hunting for parts for my 998s rebuild. Some good vendors in the US. Was pretty painless bringing in parts.

Otherwise try eurocycles and I think Brit parts on the east coast...although these guys tend to chage drug money for their parts.....

In the latest edition of that free motorbike mag (has that three wheel polaris thing on the front) there's a little piece about a frame kit from an Italian manufacturer (not NCR or Poggi but the same sort of thing) to build up a 2 valver of around 140kg. I think the kit had frame, swinarm and maybe the bodywork for something like $14k. Not cheap but very trick!

Typically that era bikes the frame gets bent and tears the engine mounting bolts out of the cases cheaper to buy a straight one.

Don't know haw bad it is yet, will be looking at it when we get back on break.
Gotta feel a little sorry for the guy, he sold it, had signed all the paperwork and went to hand the bike over. The guy that bought it said nah bring it to me at the end of the weekend enjoy your last rides with her. So he did, went around a corner she started to slide out on him so he rode her on and she hit the gravel all over red rover, he hit a blackboy and went sailing over the top the bike stopped with the wheel in the blackboy. Now he has a broken bike and no more sale and he was not insured...... silly boy. From what he says it was a front on hit, will know when we look, just wanted to get some idea of cost of frame etc. to begin with so one knows roughly how much to offer for the rest, providing there is not much more else wrong.

Anyways, we will be looking at it. Will take some pix and post them later for those interested.

Thank you all for the places mentioned and ideas, thus far.

Cheers,
Cal

maybe eurobrit but otherwise you might have to get from states.
plenty of costom frame kits out there that your engine will slip into, but you'd have to get aus compliance...

yes i would like to stick the 900 into her monster to give it a new life
but i think the old 1 would be used as a butt plug if i did
but i'll test the water and see what i can get away with
