    Vee2 was same problem.

Thrink the impeller he got was a modded ZX6r job.
Fans were from USA, both combined made a very noticeable difference.

When his thermo's kicked in the gauge temp dropped noticeably...

    overpriced arse burners i reckon
    "
It must be an 'Italian' thing, as the Benelli Tornado radiator bleeding procedure required 'gymnastics' too; but one of the more endearing features of the 900 Tre was how cool the bike was compared to the F4's."

Cool in every sense hey Vince

now i must run for cover

The fans were from Muzzy - aluminium six blade things I think.
Click here to see my Ducati 999R in the PSB garage... You'll love it!

Don't click here to see my ZX9R aka The Ginger Ninja... there's no link!

    Sounds about right mate...

For the heat issues, get rid of the CAT. Mine has had all the mods, but still have the CAT in. Thats the next and final mod, should sound even sweeter too.

I got quoted $900 from a shop in Perth for this part ALONE with an 8 week wait....

I got the full arrow headers from this mob in 2 weeks for less than that.

Basically if you're gonna ride slow or through traffic you're gonna squirt coolant. I was running mine in fairly slowly on a cool night and lost a heap of coolant...I overfilled the overflow bottle the next day and went for a 30c day ride at moderate pace and didn't lose a drop of coolant.
If you're overflow is still 1/2 full you've got nothing to worry about...in fact it's probably still too full.
There's lots of advice out there and different possible solutions...the severity of this problem will depend on how you want to ride it.
My plan is to gradually work through this beginning with the first easiest solution (keep the overflow at the minimum level), I'll also ride normally with less focus on the run in proceedure in the manual...if that doesn't work the work through the other options...engine ice, second overflow, larger pump, bottom radiator bleeder, etc if I have to.
Checkout the MV website there's heaps on there about this.
This also aligns with the advice from Rick Gill's (where I bought the bike from), they're also happy to check it out if I want to make sure that there's no trapped air.
    Cheers

    Hi guys

(1st post!) From my experience if you shut down the engine the coolant will overflow but if you let the thermos run at least until they switch off by themselves this will alleviate the "leak" if the stopping temp was around 100-100 deg C (I think the fans are timed for 30 secs?).

Letting the thermos run until it reaches 83 deg C alleviates this completely..

This with the engine switched off yes?

I used to do this... battery died.

Yeah within reason, it's worse as the battery ages of course. Now for me it depends, if it's around 95 I'll let it run down to about 90-odd. If it's above 100 deg then I usually let it run down to about 90 or so, if not back to 83 (depends if it's a "hard" run or not, not that I can ride it anywhere near its limits!).

    Character, they call it...

Just a thought, what if you wired in a switch so you could switch the fans on manually, get them going sooner in traffic etc. May help.

    Like everyone else has said...
My F4 still spits occasionally and it's got 5,000kms on it.
I just call it marking her territory.

I was warned when I bought her to expect it until she "finds her level".

Jules, I'm not convinced that the muzzys alone help with cooling, they may have slightly better air flow.

Running the fans for 5 minutes after shutting down the engine is to prevent the stock fans melting...which they do..the tips melt which further reduces their efficiency.

Fitting the aluminium muzzys alleviates that concern. Definately worth doing.
