    My new bike - 848EVO

So I've been around this forum for quite some time. I've always wanted a bike and could never afford one, so I gave up my beloved car (JZX100 Chaser) and bought one of these.

I test rode one a few months ago and I fell in love by the time I got down the road, I haven't ridden an array of bikes but the Ducati was the first bike that made me feel 'special'. It's corny and cliched but the brand really changed how you felt riding on the road, you noticed people envying the bike and snapping their necks to have a look at it. It was also a breeze to ride, I was anticipating it to be a real animal but it was very placid and predictable to ride provided I was sensible.

It will cop some mods eventually; an exhaust, screen and FE will be on the cards but for now I'm pretty happy.

I've had possibly the most difficult purchase ever - which was buying the bike interstate from someone that was out of country. Ida at 1300-Bike-Move was an incredible help getting everything sorted out, it took nearly 2 months to purchase this bike since I first agreed to buy it - they were forever patient and ensured I was looked after.

Hope to see you all around sometime!

    Terry

Absolutely stunning machine mate, was looking at one myself but just couldn't afford it lol. treat it with respect, its a weapon

Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done
In the backroads as it is on the freeway
Give us this day our high-octane premium fuel
    And forgive us our lanesplitting
As we forgive the four wheel drives, the volvos and the taxis
And lead us not into gravel corners
But deliver us from hand-held radars

    Hi Terry,

Very well said, it's true, with out seeming tempestuous or prejudice against other brands, the Duacti does emit seamless like character/soul if you will. With out a doubt you will never get bored of ppl envying (public masturbation) of your new toy.

I hope your first mod is A set of sweet Termignoni Pipes...... *puuuuuurs*

    Take care.

    Craig

Enjoy your new Christmas present, sounds like a lot of thought went into it and I'm sure you won't have buyers regret.

Thank you kindly for the reception guys

Sadly I have encountered an issue with riding the bike, either my riding position is incorrect or maybe I'm developing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, but after riding it for a few hours on Friday and then a few more on Saturday I found my pinky and ring finger on my left hand going numb or tingling with sensation, it wouldn't feel normal again until hours later. All my gear is still in transit in the US so I'm ashamed to say I've been squidding as of late (I really couldn't resist the temptation to ride it) I'm hoping my gloves alleviate this problem

I had exactly the same thing with my duke a week ago when I first got it,

I rode for say 1-2 hours and my right hand was gone after just 10-15 mins into the trip?

Could not feel anything, was going to go to the bathroom and knock one out it was that dead!

But after a few more rides it is getting better, so really its just you getting used to the bike and using your abbs to keep you up right.

Could simply be the vibrations from the bike. If your gloves don't solve the issue and you are sure you are in the correct posture (as little weight on wrists as possible), you can try weighting/filling the bar ends... there are people who have seen great success with this.

    Hi Terry,

Alas.... The riding position is the cause and only effects a low percent of the super sport ducati riders.

I have a 1098s in which is identicle to the 848 riding position I am led to believe and I am affraid to say it but gloves wont help your cause. After switching out 4 sets of gloves I still suffer from pins/needles and in some extream cases (riding to Wayne Patterson - Bunbury Ducati & back) I loose complete sensation in my right hand, I pull over, rest up and continue.

Only after months of research, switching out gloves and seeing a Orthopedic (hands) & Neurologist specialists (nerves) did I learn it was caused from... wait for it... pinching of nerves in the hand from the predominate race position of the 1098s.

End of the story, swap out your hand grips and all will be sweet to the beat. For you the gloves might bring the goodness and joy back into your riding but what solved it for me was after market gel injected hand grips. Feel free to PM me Terry and I will give you further info.

Happy riding mate and take care.

Hey guys, got it rego'd today with WA plates - and after spending more and more seat time in the bike the pins and needles are going away! I'm pretty overjoyed with this as I couldn't imagine a way to sour the whole experience. I guess it was more so an adjustment to the bike and now it's getting better. Riding home tonight after the gym I really started to feel 'at home' on the bike, it's a really great experience to feel connected to the bike and begin to really enjoy it. I'm very glad I bought it

Once again thanks for the warm welcome, I'm looking forward to meeting you guys out and about!
