    Tell me something, what are these bikes like, not for the collector, but for someone who is going to ride the bike "into the ground" putting like 25-35,000km's a year on it. Would it be better off getting a new one? Or are the 996's going to be more fun?

    High maintainence costs, plus flamage from all the other ducati owners when they see you riding it into the ground.

    To ride, awesome

    i only put 200kms a week on my 916 which is a spirited ride along my favourite southwest roads and i'll gradually wear it out rather than ride it into the ground, i travel around 40,000kms a year on bikes i just share it around.

    Maybe you could buy several older models in place of a single new bike and get the best of all without wearing one out

    What a pretty girl! And I have family just up the road from there... Wonder if someone feels like going and taking a look for me. I'm sure I need another bike now that I've sold one, right?

    Whoah those Dymag wheels are "interesting". Not my cup 'o tea.
    Click here to see my Ducati 999R in the PSB garage... You'll love it!

    Don't click here to see my ZX9R aka The Ginger Ninja... there's no link!

    I thought about buying it for my bike in Tassie, but decided on a naked upright instead. It is a very nice bike, but the colour of the wheels did not do too much for me - but there again that type of thing is very subjective.

    The Shearwater MC dealership is quite a surprise. Located in a small sea side town between Devonport & Launceston, riders visit it from all over Tassie. Heaps of bikes Italian & Japanese new & used. Saw unridden M/Guzzi MG 01, Senna & 'Italia' Brutale. Large selection of gear & accessories + very friendly & helpful staff. Not sure if that is a good thing for my hip pocket being so close to Launceston via 'magic' roads. If you are interested, take a look at their website:
    <shearwatermotorcycles.com.au>

    Back on 'thread' - I know very little about Ducati's, so don't shoot the messenger! But for what it is worth the Dealer (Mick Damon), thinks good 996's could start appreciating. If I did not have the F4 back in WA, would have been sorely tempted.

    I was pretty surprised by the shop the first time I saw it too, kind of an odd and out of the way place to have one, isn't it?

    Jon - I am so seriously tempted. And I'd leave it in Tas for a bit too, so I'm sure my sister would like to have her in the garage... Alas my common sense is screaming "What happened to the plan of downsizing the garage?" I might see if someone wants to call in there for me, though.

    It's not so much the garage that I'm trying to downsize - more the contents!
    Want to buy another Honda??

    PS - I've been fighting asking because I know better, but... Why do you have a pic of Barfy as your avatar??
