A motorcycle is a joy machine. It's a machine of wonders, a metal bird, a motorized prosthetic. It's light and dark and shiny and dirty and warm and cold lapping over each other; it's a conduit of grace, it's a catalyst for bonding the gritty and the holy.

Later the model will give you more bling.
ALWAYS CHECK SERVICE records on any Ducati.
Make sure belts have been changed, valve/rocker clearances checked.
Take note which business has done the servicing.
Usual other stuff, worn sprockets, leaking fork seals, really noisy biting clutch, etc etc...

Great Southern M/C (Albany Dealer) had one with 3,000km a while ago... absolutely as new (+termi's) unsure if it's still available.

Chuck Norris is 1/8th Cherokee. This has nothing to do with ancestry, the man ate a fucking Indian.

Was around $15k IIRC...

Pretty good price for such low KM's.

Ducatis do need a little loving and most people don't have the skills or tools to do it at home...
If its got a a few kays on it 30-40k and hasn't had a new clutch fitted then have some money left over to replace it...
Two excellent examples have just turned upnow is the hard part of choosing which one I want :S

The universe likes speed. Don't delay. Don't second guess. Don't doubt. When the opportunity is there, when the impulse is there, when the intuitive nudge from within is there, act.
Racer #71
both are 2004 one of them has a recently rebuilt motor with hi comp pistons and a lightened fly wheel and dyno tuned all by a respectable ducati mechanic
the other im still yet to have a look at but it was reccomended by a dealer even though he wasnt selling it in store

Belts need to be replaced every two years or 20,000km (whichever occurs first) so check that and factor it in to negotiations. Apart from that, the usual bike problems like worn out chain, brake etc. Clutch condition on the 999 is also a factor. Also check in the fuel tank for signs of rust. If it has a full 57mm exhaust system they can get close to the fairings on the bottom of the left hand fairing and melt it. That's about all I can think of.
Click here to see my Ducati 999R in the PSB garage... You'll love it!
Don't click here to see my ZX9R aka The Ginger Ninja... there's no link!
Check inside fuel tank...for water and deposits
I just bought one 2006 with 10K on the clock for 16k with full termi and power commander, carbon bits and duc performance clutch....had full service history including belts done....however when i picked it up it coughed and spluttered when was hot on wide open throttle and wouldn't revv past 5 -6 grand....this wasn't happening when i test rode it....anyway sent to pro twin on warranty (not bought from them i insisted on a specialist)....everything electrical got changed out same problem....tank then ran low so i filled it with some decent fuel Caltex Premium and bang no more problems....i rang the shop i bought the bike from and they stuck gull premium when i picked it up so four tanks later i filled with gull and damn same problem with WOT.....bike seems picky with fuel choice...
Also check clutch master cylinder for leaks (at leaver) the master cylinder is not serviceable (no kit) you have to get a new master cylinder....a leaking leaver could also mean it was dropped on that side as it pinches the seal...

14k for the one i havent seen yet the other one i have to check on the price but ill let you guys tomorrow![]()
