    See? :)

Had a play with some polycarb sheet I had knocking around in the garage...

Will get started on one for the horizontal pot tomorrow, now have more whizzy bits to peer at whilst the bike is running.

Went out for a ride this afternoon, got home, stuck the bike on the stand and peered over its booming clatterness...

    Uhhh...

    (WTF?)

That bearings not going round. At all.

Stops engine, removes window. Bearing is indeed completely seized - to be fair they looked pretty manky anyways, I was on the verge of fitting new ones just for the bling factor.

Note purple heatmarks where the belt has toasted the side of the bearing... the inner one of the two was still free to move, but feels dry/not great.

    - polish mark on bearing...

The belt looks fine if a little polished on one side? Have ordered 4 new bearings & will fit my new spare belt when they arrive for a little piece of mind.

Glad I had the windows on there or it could have been an expensive moment re: snapped belt.

    Check your belt bearings, people.

To the best of your knowledge, are the bearings original?
How many miles on the odometer?

Quite possibly? I had a Big Box Of Spares with the bike & a folder full of reciepts, work done etc, will have a flick through that but can't remember seeing anything? The bike has done nearly 33,000 miles... They dont get an easy life getting cooked in the belt cover on the side of the cylinder, no airflow at all... my first idea was to replace the standard inspection cover with some mesh to let the belts etc breathe a bit whilst keeping stones & other road crap out?

The bearings on the adjuster are 6201-2RSH, the same as the one in the pressure plate.
