    Tuneboy for Ducati now

    TuneBoy - Engine Management Systems

be interesting to see how it works with the TC system.

at least you dont have to install or wire in anything, just connect a cable and re-flash the stock ecu
the older V2.4 i use for the Benelli can do all of the following:
Modify the fuel map via a fuel trim table
    Modify the ignition map
    Change the rev limit
    Change the thermo fan settings
Modify air fuel targets used in the ECU
    Change the idle speed
Change warm up fuel for cold starting
    Diagnose faults
    Run ECU test procedures
Modify fuel mapping using a DynoJet tuning link
Change when the ECU uses the O2 sensor for closed loop mode
    Data log information .

Unfortunately i have to source a older laptop with a RS232 Port for my older data cable,
Anyone go a older laptop with a rs232 port they no longer need for sale?

Mate, you can get a USB to Serial converter for ~$30.

We've tried using those adapters for work, when connecting to engine management systems on large, mainly American, engines, and they're sketchy at best. Had all sorts of issues maintaining a connection, and as soon as we went back to using a laptop with a serial port they went away.

i use usb to rs232 for connection to DF1 comms (edited for accuracy DH+ and DH485 networks with rs232 interface require usb rs232 DH485 converter)

ended up going through about 4 of the things before i found one that was stable in industrial application. all i can say is the amount you pay for them doesnt seem to have anything to do with the quality of the unit.

Possibly crappy drivers or average quality one, I use one constantly with no issues.

mine need to be stable inside substations and motor control centers where there is lots of high voltage switching

im not sure maybe it could be drivers, or internals. i have a feeling there are only a couple of platforms available.

the best one ive used is the Dolphin USB to RS232 which was repackaged by dicks smith they were bullet proof. not sure if you can still get them, i couldnt find one after loaning mine to a collegue who lost it and caused me a lot of problems trying to find a suitable replacement.

(oh and whatever platform belkin are using its SHIT!)

I've always found the Prolific Chipset ones to be the most reliable - Aten, IBM and some other cheap brands use it.

Used a generic Serial to USB for Nemesis comms, no success.
Use Comp Systems serial/usb adapter - perfect!

    What the price on Tuneboy?

    and your point is ???

tuneboy has been around for quite a while originally for efi triumphs, but more lately the guy seems to be moving on to other makes, made in Oz too !

i think one of the orignal plans or idea was that the tuning could be done with a gameboy - hence the name

    Tuneboy is Australian...
Great product. If you follow the setup and installation instructions its prestty reliable too.

You have to order the program (downloadable), pay for a bike RCU Key, and pay for a cable. I bought mine for my KTM as a kit for $500. Effective and not too hard to operate, there are predesigned maps available for free from tuneboy.

Like: No add on mudule (directly edit ECU) and once you have the software all you need is to purchase a key for each of your bikes for about $150 each... so you dont end up with 4 power commanders etc...

Dislike: Not all dyno operators are familiar with it.

    Do eeet

Is there any dyno shops that can tune this?

Found it hard to find a shop to help with Nemesis.
    Dynotime was it!

That's what I was wondering. Then Ducati owners like me could keep the immobilizer - which you lose with a Nemesis or Microtec.
Click here to see my Ducati 999R in the PSB garage... You'll love it!

Don't click here to see my ZX9R aka The Ginger Ninja... there's no link!

I have no Ducati specific knowledge. I am able to directly edit my KTM ecu and I understand it is the same for trumpy and Benelli.

So I will go with yes...

Flashing a Ducati ecu has been somewhat on the impossible side of things.
That why Nemesis and other replacement ECU exist.

Modern Ducati ECU arent that bad. Some good curves sorted with a Dynojet PC3 (or 5?), fueling only.

For a older re232 tb cable like mine you really can only use a certain usb adapter, I bought a Aten one and it didnt work,
simon, if you have one that would be perfect, i can exchange a couple of sets of gloves for it if it works okay, dont need much pc processing power.

Tuneboy is a direct reflash of the stock ecu, i know wayne was working for a while on cracking the magneti marelli code, looks like he cracked it, although i would email him to confirm it does all those functions listed.
i think he only offers re-mapping, tuning for the tnt's walbro unit, but not the diagnostic functions, this may have changed from when i last heard about it, but theres not too many bikes running a walbro ecu, TnT's Bimota DB7 and some aprilias (RVX etc) and thats it.

I heave heard rumours Pattos and Rilusi may be using / or willing to use Tuneboy.
Its a shame people arent more willing as it works fine with dynojets tuning link.
Tuning link comes up with a map, but instead of loading that map into the power commander, you connect your laptop to the dyno. accept the map, then plug into the ecu, and flash the map in.

for bikes with a CO probe, or by fitting one, your can also datalog on the road, just have a laptop in a back pack and go for a ride, the CO meter logs the ratio, and then you can adjust maps based on the CO readings.

apparently it was developed for his original 955 triumph daytona turbo bike. the igniton controllability is a boon too.

He also has quite a few custom maps for free download.
