This is Prada heir Lorenzo Bertelli’s new toy – the new Ducati 1198R-powered Vyrus 987, as delivered to him by Vyrus boss Ascanio Rodorigo on Christmas Eve.
Rodorigo borrowed the bike back to show off at the weekend’s Verona Motor Bike Expo (looks like they took the rug too).

Previously set to be the world’s most powerful production bike, the firm has decided not to supercharge the 987, saying the near superbike-spec 1198 engine is plenty powerful as it is.
Tiny Rimini firm Vyrus – whose customers include Tom Cruise – run a tight-knit and secretive operation, but MCN has managed to obtain footage of the 987 in testing. It’s not Top Gear quality viewing, but it does feature test rider Mauro Hulkino doing his best impression of an Italian Stig, and it is the only footage in the world of the latest iteration of a fascinating and seductive machine.
Each Vyrus is hand-made, uniquely specced and takes over 100 days to produce. 20 year old Prada millionare Bertelli paid over £76,000 for this 184bhp carbon-clad creation.

Never ridden one unfortunately but apparently quite vague.

EDIT: And it would feel totally different too, the pivot point of the front swingarm is totally different to the pivot point of conventional forks.

I remember reading a few articles on this style of front end and all said that they feel vague and don't offer much in the way of feed back , so not very confidence inspiring , dont know about you but it would a large leap of faith on a bike that felt like that to go hammering into a corner !

From what Ive heard with the proper set up and the revised front they are very good. although you do need time to adapt. Their a test in the latest AMCN on a alternative front end on a RSV Mille, sounds like the front feel has been increased a fair bit. Its a good read.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Somewhere I read/was told that the top of the line model had the engine out of the desmo, was supercharged and all the frame etc was made of carbon fibre.

    Spoiler: show

Those funny front ends usually have some measure of anti-dive built in. This is one of the main differences you can feel - the dive with normal forks decreases the rake and thus quickens the steering. This would be especially noticeable on the track. These types of front ends party piece is, to some degree, the anti dive and separating the braking, suspension and steering forces and it feels strange after riding a conventionally suspended bike.
