Casey Stoner blasts Valentino Rossi over return to Yamaha | News.com.au
"AUSTRALIA'S MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner has launched a stinging attack on Valentino Rossi following the Italian icon's move back to Yamaha. Rossi will saddle up again with Yamaha after a failed campaign with Ducati, on which Stoner won his first world title before switching to Honda.
Stoner has accused Rossi of failing to ride the bike to its limits and castigated the multiple world champion and his Australian crew chief Jeremy Burgess for boasting they could produce a Ducati on which "any rider could win."
"They ate their words from day one," Stoner said.
"Jerry saying that it would take him 80 seconds to fix that bike and that it was a simple issue and now they have had almost two years and have not made any inroads.
"Valentino obviously doesn't want to push limits and ride a bike that is not perfect, he has admitted that.
"Obviously he doesn't want to put the effort in with Ducati.''
In his most recent race Rossi was eighth and 10 seconds behind teammate Nicky Hayden when he crashed out of the US GP.
In his first stint with Yamaha - from 2004 to 2010 - Rossi won 46 races and four world titles.
In a stunning backflip, Rossi is walking away from a reported $A35 million deal at Ducati to take a pay cut to return to Yamaha.
The seven-time world champion failed to win a race on the machine in his 22 months with the team.
Although now with Honda, Stoner remains a hero in the eyes of Ducati fans, having won 23 races and the 2007 world title with the red team.
There have been months of tensions with Rossi citing a lack of development work by Ducati engineers while he has floundered to master the unique style of the bike.
"I just feel completely sorry for Ducati that Valentino has gone there and done nothing, but complain about the bike for almost two years," Stoner said.
"The amount of times that guy has had to eat his words is not funny, but people still forgive him for it."
Rossi will now have to take the backseat behind his rival, Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo.
"Our main investment is in Jorge and he is the No.1 candidate to be champion both this year and next year. He is our No.1 rider,'' said Yamaha MotoGP boss Lin Jarvis."

Repsol Honda Team’s Casey Stoner stated that the Indianapolis circuit should suit him and his team, and was also quick to clarify statements in the press about comments he supposedly made about Rossi’s switch this week: "I want to clarify that. That was a lot of context taken out. It was the whole last year and a half. I never did the interview and never said anything like that last week. I still stand by what I said, but it's been over the last year and a half that it was put together."

Wow.
What a belter of a high side for Stoner! That was quick! Went a long way and did a 360 in the air.
Torn ligament in his right? ankle.
Bike smashed.
Same spot pretty much for Hayden. Momentarily unconscious and won't be competing today.
Spies again in almost the same spot, but was OK to go on.
Rossi nearly went down as well.
Seems to me like that part of the track is a bit dodgy. They better do something about it soon, its just plain dangerous.
Not looking good for stoner This from Honda (facebook)
After today's crash during qualifying practice for the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix, Repsol Honda's Casey Stoner was*taken to the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for further check ups.*
*
Casey had X-rays and an MRI scan on the right tibia and fibula, right ankle and right foot. It was confirmed he had suffered*several small chipped bone fractures, a 10mm fracture on the talar dome below the tibia and fibula, contusions to the anterior*tibia, posterior tibia and medial malleolus, and soft tissue swelling around the ankle. He has also torn his deltoid, anterior*talofibial, calcaneal and fibular ligaments in addition to a high ankle sprain.*
*
Hospital staff strapped the ankle for protection through the night and Casey left the hospital at midnight. He will consult with*the medical team in the morning to asses the situation and decide if he is able to ride the machine safely.*

CASEY STONER
"It's the first time in my career that I haven't been able to get up and walk away from an accident myself.*As soon as I stood up, I looked down and saw my foot was at a strange angle to my leg. I had a*shooting pain in my lower leg, then I felt a crack as my ankle popped back in. It was very painful and I*was sure I had broken something. The local staff at the circuit Medical Centre were all very helpful and*after taking some initial x-rays they agreed I should go to hospital for further checks. The team that*looked after me at the Methodist Hospital were fantastic, so professional, attentive and incredibly helpful, I'd like to thank*them all for taking good care of me. They confirmed that I had some chipped bone around my ankle and a small fracture,*but I was concerned about the damage done to any ligaments so we did an MRI scan. This showed that I had torn almost*every ligament in my ankle and heavily bruised my tibia. I need to see how I feel tomorrow morning to understand if I'm*able to race. I am really disappointed as I felt we had the package for pole in this race and a strong chance for the win.*Many other riders came off today, I hope they are ok. We'll see how we feel in the morning and will do all we can to be on*the grid"

After reading the list of injuries Stoner sustained, I'm blown away that he's even contemplating suiting up for the race... What a champ!! I copped a 6mm partial thickness tear in my rotator cuff last Oct and it had my crying like a baby for weeks.
Dr costa ? Has worked miracles for years ..
Prob not all that ethical but the show must go on...

I hope the teams are asking some serious questions...
The MotoGP bikes rarely highside these days, and yet we had 3 major highsides in a matter of meters of each other, and Rossi very nearly followed suit.
Have been watching qually ATM (taped) and my god, I have never see a bike flip so violently as stoner's did. So very lucky he was flung clear of that, and did not get tangled up with the bike. Even spies was ejected from his seat at a fair rate of knots.
New PB 58.96 seconds - 19/5/13
Without seeing the press release you are talking about, I can't say...
But that doesn't seem to make much sense :/
electronics /=power
Perhaps trying to spin the rear more (less traction control intervention) and increase drive off the corners?
Either way, such a densely located area for all the incidents, seems strange.
New PB 58.96 seconds - 19/5/13
what channel is the GP on tonight?
Ten. Telecast stars on one at 12, them switches to ten for the other events.
New PB 58.96 seconds - 19/5/13
thanks, doubt I'll stay awake that long though.

Be careful of that channel swap.
They've done that before in the EPG and it was wrong. I ended up recording MASH or some shit.
re: Stoners high side - I've never seen the rear tyre come off the rim before!
Quite surprised at this....
