Dorna are pushing hard, on the back of issues raised by Rossi and others that the track is too dangerous (wet and windy) for an event in October. Dorna want Round 1 of the season from 2012 which will clash nicely with WSBK. Article on crash.net
Personally I think WSBK is so much better as a spectacle for the racing enthusiast than MotoGP, so I'd be pissed if WSBK was shunted to a less ideal time weather wise. Timing of both events is ideal in that it is roughly six months apart - those that go to both have a decent amount of time to arrange a leave pass or what ever to get to both. Having seen some shit weather in Feb/March at PI, and equally seen some awesome weather in October, I wonder if it may be pandering to Rossi and his followers?
