Everyone complains about traction cotrol, RIGHT! "ITS not exciting enough!" I've heard a lot of people whinge

NOW as soon as the racing gets to the point that the boys are elbow charging and brake checking, you all whinge about that. F*ck me, its not hard enough one minute then its all TOO hard the next.
Toughen up people, you are witnessing the future of motorcycle racing. Rossi and Stoner are the spearhead.
The bikes are going faster around circuits than ever before, they can bump into each other and stay on! I'm lovin this new generation racing, bring on the electrical wizardry and lets see some real racing, elbows and all!

Oh *REALLY* (i didn't see the race).

Sounds like Rossi "got to him" and the mind games are in force.

Again, didn't see the race, but acting like that just says to me (and Rossi probably) that he's found a weakness to (attempt to) exploit.

As Schwantz said in faster "90% of racing is between the ears" - i reckon there's truth in that (rider confidence, attitude, etc all play a big part).

edit:
What hostilemonk said. In a sport where the top places are often seperated by tenths or hundredths of a second, that 1% edge can make a shitload of difference. Whether it comes from psyching people out, tyres, horsepower, superior set up (Rossi has had the best engineers in the business for much of his career), etc.

Ausinanas, when's your birthday cause i'm buying you a big wooden spoon. My 2c... if you want stoner as your australian representative to the world and their kids to look up too then fair enough but he's not like any ozzy i've meet. He lost and were dis-respectful in front of the worlds press. Yes it's a game and Rossi is showing you how it's played at this elite level, learn or get left behind...he wants ( the championship ) and has wanted it for many years, and has fought many, many types of racers. How much do you really want to hold on to that title, your the ' champ '. it's yours to lose!!!

Some interesting info on Ducati traction control.

Stoner handshakes Rossi, smiling and chatting on the Laguana podium.

Some people have no objectivity here me thinks

I thought Casey's move past Rossi early in the race where he elbowed him on the way through set the tone for the race. Bring on Brno!!!!!!!!!

Rewatch it, he's not going to say he got brake checked (he'd be stupid if he did) but it is quite clear it happened.
Why would he be stupid to say he was brake checked? It would be a very simple thing to check. The telemetry recordings would show if Rossi braked sooner or harder. It is all recorded these days.

And I have watched it again, and to me it looked like Casey went in too hot (as he himself admitted). But hey, what do I know?

The running off the track and the crash are two separate incidents, running off the track didn't cause Stoner to crash, trying to get back onto the track in a hasty fashion caused the crash. That's what Stoner said was his fault.

sorry if this had been brought up before but on the note of electronic aids and stoners advantage, did u see the lap they displayed braking and acceleration degree bars for both rossi n stoner??

now i have no idea how accurate these things are but in the 2 displays the differance was incredible, in the fact how much more rossi had to temper his brakes and throttle. Whilst stoner basicly had his brakes instantly completly compressed into corners and his throttle completly open instantly out of corners, rossi's approach was much more "moderatly applied".

how accuratly this represents stoner and his duc's leading stability controlls and electronics against rossi's prefered old school "feel" setup i dont know but it was interesting.

OMG I can't believe everyone posted this, you've ruined the entire race for me!!

lol

In the battle of new school vs. old skool technology you have to side with old skool even if just for sentimental reasons. Rossi was by far the better racer on the day, he kept his cool and masterfully applied pressure in what was otherwise a very even race, regardless of the different setup approaches on each bike. Thats what racings about.

I don't know if anyone has quoted/linked it yet (sorry, no time to search fully right now), but apparently Rossi says the conversation was more like:

Quote:
"On the podium he told me that he'd lost respect for me because he's been racing for many years and he doesn't remember ever having a race like that," said the Italian.

Nothing like a decent verbal stoush and some well placed tactics.
I hate Rossi with a passion, Yes, he's worse than that arrogant german car driver, but again, they both have skill.
I'm looking forward to the next round now that Casey is aware what an arsehole Rossi is and can ride accordingly.

"Well if he's been racing for many years, I've been racing for a lifetime and I don't know who he's been racing against but I remember all my races being like that and my rivals always fought that way."

"He's used to the mentality of racing at the front with a four-second advantage over the field but racing shoulder-to-shoulder brings other factors into play," said Rossi.

"Hence this time I won and I'm happy."

Nuf said from the 7 time world champion about the 1 time world champion.

You know the greatest thing about Laguna Seca and Casey Moaners little hissy tissue filling tanty? Rossi now has someone to hate again, and he even more competitive, more entertaining, and at his best when he has someone on the field that he doesnt like. (EG Biaggi, Gibeernau).

go vermeulen... great racer always looks relaxed and injoying himself. maybe casey needs to relax out there and not put so much pressure on him self to win nothing wrong with second better than in the sand and risking pionts. fantastic racing great to see two aussies on the podium rossi plays hard thats moto gp. They get payed to take the risks...thats racing at the top keep it comming.

Just watched it.

Fair race in my opinion.

There were lead changes after the Rossi sand incident - i seriously doubt rossi went onto the sand intentionally to gain advantage - was lucky he kept upright....

In the end, Stoner simply fucked up and out-braked himself. Bad luck, it happens.

As to the blocking comments - nah...

Rossi simply placed his bike intelligently and used lines to make passing difficult. Did this make him difficult to pass? Fuck yes, that's the whole point. This isn't weekend club racing level. These guys are getting paid millions and fighting for the world championship. Rainey/Schwantz used to race way harder than that... considering the bikes they were on were 2 stroke 500s with no traction control....

Noticed this as well. Definitely relying on the traction control more. Whether its good/bad - it works for him. Different generation of rider...

edit:

^^ could also be due to the bikes being totally different to ride. its well known that rossi relies heavily on corner speed. could be that the duke is better for squaring off corners with and being more point and shoot (relatively speaking)...
