Okay, Valentino Rossi won the world championship in his first season on a new bike.

ASSUMING Stoner wins the world championship this year, which year do think is the more impressive.

Valentino left the best bike in the paddock, and went backwards to Yamaha, but he did tkae his crew chief and some of his team (I beleive?). He had also already won world championships and as such, already had some of the paddock beaten mentally.

Stoner moved up to a better bike (some would say the best bike, but you certainly couldn't have said it was the best bike when he signed, and Capirossi is doing fairly average on it.... )
Also, he is only in his 2nd year in MotoGP, he's got a whole new team (I beleive?) and on new tires. Also, he was a nobody last year, so he didn't have any real mental advantage.

Obviously it wall all be for naught if he fails to win the world championship, but I'm curious!
It must've been Tuesday. He was wearing his "cornflower-blue" tie.

No he didnt, he won it in is second season, still on the same Honda he rode the season before.

If you meant, he won it in his first season with Yamaha, yeah he did, and it was impressive, but in terms of outright improvement, Stoner's run this year is far more impressive. He jumped from mid pack, (albeit the pointy end of midpack) to the front, he blindsided the opposition with his rise. Rossi was always seen as a contender.

What is this, "newbie's making polls week"?

    lol

It's always impressive to see Rossi ride. Which probably makes it all the more impressive to see Stoner ride this year.

No amount of genius can overcome a preoccupation to detail.

Casey wasn't a nobody last year, he was a crasher.

Now the format has changed and the likes of Hayden are not suited to the lower power bikes which behave more like a 250, Casey has lept into the spotlight with gusto.

He has displayed a totally different rider than the one we have seen in recent years and i for one am glad. He will win this year if he holds together for the notorious return to Europe for the beginning of the second half of the season.

If the bike was so much better than the rest why are his team mates alsorans.

Rossi did an awesome job of winning on the M1 and i didn't think he had a chance. the bike was alot worse than the Honda and the Ducati is a consistant bike, even if the riders are not.

So to your pole, I voted Stoner but in reality they both had an equal disadvantage, Rossi a less than spec bike and Stoner a less than average history.

I really don't care which one of these two wins, so long as that punce Pedrosa crashes a few more times.
