    Vyrus 986 M2 (Moto 2 bike)

I love vyrus, so would be very excited if they make it to Moto 2 (hub steering)!

You remember Vyrus right? The company that makes the Vyrus 987 C3 4V…the Bimota Tesi look-alike with a Ducati 1198 motor, hub-steering, and a supercharger? Not willing to rest on its laurels as having “the most powerful production motorcycle in the world” (211hp gets you that title), the small Italian boutique firm seems set to enter Moto2 racing with its new Vyrus 986 M2 race bike, whose preliminary concept photo has just leaked out of the Rimini factory.

Like all Moto2 class machines, the Vyrus 986 M2 is based around a Honda CBR600RR motor, but will be the only bike on the Moto2 grid to feature hub-steering. While Vyrus says the new 986 M2 will be an affordable option for Moto2 teams, the company also has plans to take the bike to the consumers (likely with some modification to get around the “prototype” requirement in Moto2), offering a road bike version available for purchase.
This news makes us especially excited for the uniquely styled 600cc machine, and with delivery dates on the road bikes expected to be in March 2011, we’re surprised Vyrus has been able to keep this project under wraps for this long.

The Vyrus 986 M2 is scheduled to debut at the Verona show on January 21, 2011. More info on this dream machine then.

I now want to watch moto2.
I love the Vyrus, but to see a hub centre bike racing in a world class event, awesome.
Dying to see this come to fruition.

awesome, as Jim says, be fantastic to see it in action, alternative suspension could just be the breaker in a class where engine performance is so close, I expect the road bike would still be horribly exy though :-(
looking forward to Verona unveiling too!!

if only benelli would get off there asses and progress their tesi 600 four quattro, prototype still sitting around in the factory :-(

Well if it works wont be long before other teams start copying the design, be interesting to see how it goes on a track though.

Hub steering? What are the benefits over traditional method? (Goes off to check Wiki).
Yamaha MT-01: R1 front end, 1670cc V-twin, Staintune pipes, Power Commander, BMC filter, braided lines, Repsol orange rim stripes.

Get a second opinion, or maybe just some real news.

It basically separates breaking and suspension/steering actions. So for example, when the bike brakes there is no front end dive.

I would like to see an RADD design in Moto 2. Building on the hub-centre concept but eliminating the bump-steering effect.

These setups are damn light compared to conventional forks too.

    The first attempt-500ccGP

    http://www.motorsportretro.com/2009/...rom-1978-1988/

The ELF5 was the culmination of the design philosophies begun in the ELF X, offering “unparalleled braking stability… you could brake harder and later than on any conventional machine” and “exceptional chassis adjustability” (Cathcart). However, 1988 and the ELF5 marked the final run of Elf’s experimental bike project. Guiter was ready to retire and the ELF5, while still a solid performer, failed to make any significant impact on the Grand Prix proceedings. Ron Haslam continued to race it, though he failed to attain significant success. Two-time Australian superbike champion Malcolm Campbell would also ride for Elf-Honda in 1988 before going on to win his two superbike Championships for Honda.
