What year is the bike??? That's all they care about
season 2012 is coming.....
Never mind. Just checked. '73-'76
Would class as period 5 lightweight.
Ie, 132cc-250cc, made between 1/1/73 and 31/12/82
season 2012 is coming.....
At a national level, you'd be up against Armstrong and Yamaha TZF 250s, at a state level more like Yamaha RD250LCs : really, not a worthwhile race project. Leave it in the shed for the odd Sunday fang with the Classic club, and save your $$$ for something more worthwhile. We like to encourage anyone who wants to race, regardless of class or bike, but that would be a futile money pit.

not really looking to be competitive just a bit of a dice with simlar bikes. are there simlar one in that class? or are they all highly modified and id be unlikely to even sit at the back of the pack. cheers #96
Alot of the period 5 boys run in the high cc classes. That or your up against 2 strokes...
Maybe have a look on natsoft, over some recent rounds. Will show bikes and times for you
season 2012 is coming.....
often see one red 250LC in P5
There are two questions in life.
1:Which way do I go
2:Whats the lap record.
looks like i need to be able to do 70 secs on a bike that can do top speed of 120km according to google. to be at the back. average speed of about 110kms a lap i think. this could be possible. you lot got any thoughts?
I can't offer much advice as it's my first year racing, but because the bike can do 120kph doesn't mean your average speed will be high, it's related to acceleration, unless you work the shizzle out of the motor and spend lots of money on development, I think your money would be better spent on a different machine and you will spend money. (IMHO)

Well, the moriwaki mh80 (small road bike frame with worked 80cc 2stroke engine, weighing 70-75kg, full fairings) was only able to do a 1:17 at best... And they would pull 170kph coming down the hill.
Just as a rough guide
season 2012 is coming.....
Come out to Barbagallo on May 15th Brendon, and have a look through the pits and the race fields. Might give you some perspective. Admision is free.
