Thumbs up Collie raceday 20/11/2011 (moderns get excited)

    its on ladies and gentlemen,

Checked with one of the boys from the HCMC and he said the 20/11/2011 is a confirmed raceday, and bring on the moderns! lets all get down there and show them how its done. push hard for record pace or just ride a different track, its up to you.

with no kings being run by the MCRC this year what else are you gonna do? can you really just leave you bike in the shed all summer, well, can you?
    ...
the track is great fun and offers plenty of overtaking opportunities with a few over and under options as well as some hard braking areas. sweeping corners, near hairpins, a chicane, camber changes, and some motorcross 'whoops' (ok, slight exageration, but still), all thatin around 50 seconds or so.

crash at the track saturday night, sleep in town at the collie ridge, or rock up sunday morning. there are a couple of pubs in town for those that want to head down saturday, we can book in if theres gonna be a few asking for a feed.

we all love a full grid and this would a great place to see with 30+ moderns dicing it out. if we can get enough interest ill talk tothe HCMC and see if i cant get us a few extra laps.

    HCMC%20Collie%20Circuit.jpg

feel free to invite people, obviously we will have a grid limit, but thats still a few bikes!

get in an entry and lets carve up collie

It's a long shot, but I've toyed with the idea of booking the track on the Saturday if it's available and we have sufficient numbers to justify the cost.

It's not quite as simple as that Aiden,
Fairly sure you need a licence from the club/mwa for the day and someone who is an official to be able to supervise and run the practice.

Got some serious steam behind this already. Have about 8 or so hands up already, and a few photographers keen. Have a feeling we will see many more people coming down for this little run than normal

I'll be putting in an entry very shortly to confirm a place, and will post up an entry form for everyone soon too.

Hi all, While most of the HCMC meetings this season (and most of our early bookings for next season) have been two-day attacks, with a Saturday ride/tuning/practice day as a low-cost intro to the weekend, the Nov 20 meeting is NOT a points round, and was added late to our race calendar as a Non-Nats meeting for those amongst our clubbies who won't be attending the Historic roadrace nats that weekend at Symmons Plains, Tasmania.
So, with our club once again providing a container-load of fine classic machinery to show the rest of Oz we go hard, the entry isn't expected to be too healthy in the classic classes, so all are welcomed, to race hard in the support classes and get down for our last gallop at Collie for the year.
Thanks Aaiden for the kick in the butt to get a few along and fill the fields, if we can help get things happening for the Saturday please sing out.

    Cheers Glenn

Wonder if we can get a full grid of modern 600's and a full grid of Modern 1000's?

Shaun - don't be worried where you finish. Collie is a great track and the atmosphere is more relaxed than Barbs. If you haven't done Collie, now is the time.

    I see that's Another 'in' then Shaunor8!!!

Hey glen, how many would we need to justify the Saturday practice? I had a look at the motoring southwest sight and the required form to book the track, it looks as though it needs to be run through a club, unless someone else knows otherwise? I've emailed Carrie about most of this too, but when/where are the regular meetings these days???

Say $100 per head... 20bikes? 30 bikes? I'm sure we could manage that... Plenty of motards out there too...

If you tard's are listening, let us know how many might be interested...

The club is seriously looking at running a saturday practice, just gauging numbers with the historic machines ATM to see were they stand, and of course we will need to have some Kind of commitment to the Saturday BEFORE entries are due (bit hard to organise it with under 10 days)

Again guys, I'd suggest putting in a big hands up if you want to run Saturday and feel you can commit to the day (the last thing I want is a heap of hands and an empty track)

This is picking up some support from the club now

I have been approached by the club, who have told me Saturday is looking promising (though not confirmed, so again, hands up if ya keen) and above and beyond that I have had another idea put to me.

Who wants to run a half hour race?!?!
Race 1+3 as per normal, but race 2 would be a half hour endurance style race.
There would be a mandatory pit in (enter pits, push past the pit sheds, break if wanted, remount and exit pits) allowing people to run solid for 30 minutes, or if desired, tag your team mate who sets out to complete the 2nd half if the race. Ie, two riders for one race.

Now 30 minutes doesn't sound like a lot, but thats close to 40 laps!

I'm keen, though not sure about riding solo or tagging out at half time, but either way you want, who would like to see a half hour collie enduro?

I'll be talking to the club again next week to let them know what the interest in this is like...
