That's the general consensus at barbs, -1 & +2. Depends what you're running out of?

On the latest 07 onwards CBR600RR most punters run 15/44 compared to 16/41 standard. That's about 14.5% lower geared.

yep, 15/44 on the 07 cbr600rr for me. considered running 45 rear, and stretching the limiter down the hill, but that will mean an extra 3 shifts up and 3 shifts down in each lap.

I would have thought you would need to take into account the differences in primary gearing between makes and models.

    Yes you would...

But fortunately most bikes are very similar....

    Right is right.

The bro uses 15/45 on the R6 and has those 6 extra gear changes I am contemplating...

I remember when KTM increased primary gearing by about 10% for '03 Supermotos which caused some confusion

After a fun day at Collie and Pottz taking the Gixxer ( K6 600 ) for a spin he's on my case to drop the gearing a bit. If I go the standard -1+2 ( from stock 16/43 ) am I going to need to go a longer chain or will the current one have enough adjustment to make it work. It's only done about 8 pretty slack days so would be a shame to have to cut it off.

Without pulling the thing apart as best I can see it looks like I could go forward about 6-8 mm. Its fairly well forward so I guess that means I'd be shit out of luck???

Little bit of a thread hijack, but I am just looking at doing -1 +2 on my GSXR750. Ive followed an older PSB thread recommending Sprocket Centre, but now I'm not sure which sprocket type I should get.
Ive read good things about these two, is it just down to personal preference now? Or is there a noticeable difference in life or something I'm unaware of? It says they both weigh the same.
    Special!! Superlite 520 Conversion Steel Sprocket Set w/D.I.D. 520ERV3 Gold X'Ring Chain - SUZUKI GSX-R 750 00-10 Sprocket Center
    And
Supersprox STEALTH/D.I.D. 520ERV3 Gold X'Ring Chain & Sprocket Conversion Kit

This is just for street riding, so track considerations like weight aren't as important in my sprocket choice. Looking for better life expectancy etc.
    Thanks in advance

6-8mm is quite a lot, you might be pleasantly surprised. I could go between 42 and 45 and only use about half of the slot.

Hi I currently run an 09 GSXR600 however I am only just starting out and at a 64 sec lap around Barbs , I am running a 16F 46R or if you have standard chain sprockets easy way is to just chuck on a 14 tooth front , that runs me to about 15200 rpm over the hill , but limiter doesn't cut in until 16,500 so still crap loads of room. More importantly is that you can run third through most of the turns and on exit be right near the best torque range for the engine. I think the top speed on limiter with this gearing is 258 km/ hr so there is no chance of running that on a 600 from what I am aware of.

I caved this morning and ordered some Renthal sprockets 15/45 and DID ERV3 520 chain from MotoMummy. Guess I'll be even more confused on April Fools at Barbs trying to work out which gear I should now be in.

    Mmm, renthal goodness.

Gears are easy, and won't be too much different.

    You'll just find redline faster.

itl be sweet, give you heaps better drive for sure.
gears are easy, down to 3rd, 4th, 3rd, 4-5-6th, 3rd, 4-5th and past the start line to do it again.
