    HCMC Twilight race meeting

Back after a couple of years away, the twilight meeting will be run by the HCMC of WA, on Saturday, March 6th. Scrutineering from around 4pm, practice from 5pm, racing from 6pm. Classes for historics, sidecars, juniors and Moderns (used to be C and D grade). Entry fee $130, supp regs will be up on the club website this weekend

    www.historicracing.asn.au

and I will give the thread a bump again when the regs are there. Those of you who came last time will recall what a hoot it was, and we'll make sure the two pools of darkness will be rectified this time out. Good practice if you intend racing MotoGP at Qatar any time soon....

Thanks Glen. Still deciding on my plans for this year. Does this mean the Thunderbikes and all other moderns are in the same class this year or will there be seperate points tables as in previous years?

Hasn't been finalised, and will depend upon interest and support for thunderbikes/Bears/Pro Twins or whatever it may be titled this year. But the twilight race is not a points round, just a fun night. We are aiming at having a bit more of a social year this time around, for example we'll be having a pre-season scrutineering afternoon at the clubrooms on February 13th ( as they've done for years in drag racing ), where club members' bikes can be pre-scrutineered before the season, any niggling scrutineering questions answered, newly-introduced rules debated and explained, and prep tips passed on to newer riders, followed by a sausage sizzle and social chinwag. Stuff like this is often overlooked when the frazzled few who run club events are under the pump, but we are hoping that the more social atmosphere will help lighten the load.

Further to the twilight meeting, we had quite a good rollup last time of road riders dropping in as part of their Saturday night cruise, and that'd be good to see again. Free admission, of course.

There were some video grabs on youtube last time within a few hours of the meeting. By the way, those wishing to get a gallop on streetbikes or Formula British can still ride in with the Moderns.
And seeing there's a bit of interest swelling in the Saturday night road riders dropping in for a look, we are opening the canteen for the night. Last time we didn't, anticipating no spectators, and were caught short. So please drop in for a look, by all means.

Just to refresh, supp regs are now out on the HCMC club website,

    www.historicracing.asn.au

Entries close on FEB 22ND, and this year we have a new race secretary, Carrie Gardner (and thanks Carrie, for rolling your sleeves up and getting involved ), so there will be (clears throat)... NO LATE ENTRIES for HCMC meetings any more. A $50 late levy will get you a start if your entry is in before Feb 27th, but that's it. It's not fair on a new race sec, or those prepping and printing the programme, or the handicapper.
Handicapper ? Yes, for the twilight meeting, all the first round of races except juniors, will be handicap events. Just a change, a bit of fun at a picnic meeting. So get yourself sorted out with a tail light, tell your mates to cruise up with a picnic, and get your entries in.....

GCR's state you can't use sliders that create spark.....

15.4.3.2 Knee and boot scrapers that spark when dragged on the ground are forbidden.

Sad, but correct, I'm afraid. (Fun Police strike again).

No reason you can't whack a set of Fire Fly valve caps on, though...

Supermotos no longer run at HCMC meetings, however no reason you can't enter in and amongst the moderns.
By the way, we did used to run motards on our short circuit meetings when they were finding their feet, but as their own meetings grew, our entries dwindled, and so they were wound up. But we will always look at providing races for any category who can turn out in respectable numbers, e.g. we did look at a Formula British class but received no spark of interest from the Triumph Owners Club, who'd indicated they would support such a class. Streetbike class, which ran behind a marshal, had a couple of seasons and then dwindled, buckets came and went, and the Juniors will always get a gallop with us because they continue to turn out in adequate numbers. C and D grade we ran because we felt there were times when the MCRC couldn't give them much track time, and all those guys need are thousands of race laps : now it's more of an all-in situation entitled Moderns. If entries are huge, we may look at dividing them into sub-classes within the one race, but in the meantime it's all-in.
Yes, the first word in our title is Historic, but the second one's Competition, so we DO like fair dinkum racing....

Pretty sure they are Ben, Hence why it changed from C&D Grade to Moderns......

Why don't you just enter in the Thunderbikes on the Duke though, open to any grade..... And definitely another trophy in the cabinet for you
