Here's to those that make up the grids
Looking at the entry list for Round 3 it struck me that in any race there are only a handful of riders that have any chance of getting in the top placings, but what a boring day it would be for us spectators to see 3 or 4 bikes in each race.
So I raise my hat to all the "also rans" who turn up each meeting, each with there own reason for continuing to pour money into their chosen sport and make a decent spectacle out of it. It might be to get a few tenths off their PB, to beat that bastard that passed them last time, to prove something to themselves or just for the pure exhillaration of racing in a pack. Whatever the reason, thanks guys and gals! I for one appreciate the show you put on. Would love to be out there with you but I think I'm a bit over the hill now so I'm happy to sit and watch.

So what your saying is if I can get my arse into gear next season, and actually be in Perth, I could have the first of what, 40 maybe as many as 50 race seasons ahead of me?
Quick someone do the math, whats the average cost for the average rider for one whole season?
Not that I care, Im already hooked on track days so its only a matter of time, finding it that is

Depending on class, breakdowns and crashes etc. - say between 10,000 to 20,000 a year, not including the bikes.
Say 400,000 to 800,000 for 40 years.
That doesn't include the extra costs required to bnribe your partner if you have one (and can keep them) as you continue to spend. Nor the inevitible medical bills, loss of income due to injuries - and if you don't crash you ain't really trying. The extra cost incurred as your 6 year old wants to ride in PeeWee classes and goes on in other classes until they are a teenager. E.g. ask Stoner's parents what it cost them - but they are reaping the rewards - thats one family in how many thousands?
In short unless you get professional and lots of sponsorship, consider selling your siblings into slavery!
Now if you invest 10k a year @ 8% for 40 years it would be worth - - -?

thanks for the post vtwingrin,
I am a somebody to all that know me here and at the track, and half of what racing is about the friendships you create with like minded people. If you ever feel like your alone at the track, just wait till you have a problem and you need assisstance, the offers of help from people who you may not know by name by have spoken to and can identify is incredible.
Seeing your PB improve or your team mates or someone your helping is what its about for me. I don't expect to win a championship on the track, but i know i win friends everytime i turn around.

'Didn't have any siblings to sell so sold the product of my loins once the battery in the cattle prod, used to discipline them, ran out.
Tried selling my body but medical science wanted it straight away, others just walked off emitting peels of hystrical laughter. So sold my soul instead, the purchaser was prepared to wait awhile.
Just make sure you lot keep working and paying your taxes so I keep getting a pension. If (when) I pass any of you just realise its been financed by your taxes

What are you doing publishing figures like that Hostile? If my wife sees that IŽll have to stay home and mow the lawn on weekends.
I doesnŽt have to be that expensive. If you are riding for the enjoyment and not expecting to win a state title, you can race a hell of a lot cheaper than that. Using second hand race tyres helps and you donŽt need a new bike. You can still do reasonable lap times, run PBs and have a top day.
Crashing is a bitch though, as it costs $.
