How much does your race bike weigh????

Was wondering what weight the racers race bikes are whether it be a 600 or 1000

It would be good to see a comparison between them also if you know what the running weight (fuels oils coolant included) of the bike in street form and race would be good too.

Reason I'm asking is although mine goes alright I think it's a bit on the heavy side weighing in at just over 200kgs and am wondering how much faster/ easier the bike may be if it went on a diet

Any one got some good ideas where I can strip the weight

200kg seems about right I would think, would be 5-6kg down on street weight.

Carbon fairings, titanium bolts for everything, ti full system exhaust, race harness & ecu, ditch the starter and go push start like a real race bike, carbon anything and everything (airbox, air filter, heel guards, exhaust hanger etc), lighter brake discs, billet triple clamps

Take to the subframe with a grinder and cut off any extra tabs etc that aren't needed for stuff like pillion footrests etc

Probably easier to lose the weight yourself, though I've never met you so you might not have much to lose.

Nah I'm working on myself already I was thinking strictly bikes only not bike weight +rider

When I last weighed it was 204kgs but can't remember if I started with full tank (was only Trackday so wasn't to worried about measuring in the morning)
But also recall that when I was down the drags (as a streeter) it weighed the same so hasn't lost any weight with race glass and headlights off ect

Does the brand of race glass have much weight difference?
    Cheers for the ideas tho

Was talking to Rich about race glass last night he had 2 sets for his old gixxer, one was much thicker than the other he said but much more likely to stand up to an off.

I've got pro-fibre and they seem very light but I've got nothig to compare them to.

Aslo I'm not sure what is and isn't allowed in terms of club thou and superbike. Can you change wheels, swingarms etc?

Nah not think wheels can be done

But thought about full exhaust but then at the start of the year they threatened noise testing (which I haven't heard from since) and wasn't sure I'd get away with it

Sounds heavy, my road R1 is 197kg and I would guess my race bike is up to 5kg lighter at least. I will weight it tomorrow. Those weights are near full on fuel also

Headlights - can be 3-5kg, so that would have helped a little bit.

Another quick way to drop a couple of kilos is to get an ultralight battery
Also race harness and get rid of all the electrics you dont need.
Lighter front guard (also helps your suspension) / rear hugger
If you can - drop down to a thinner chain and sprockets.
And start replacing as many bolts as possile with titanium ones - the bigger the blt the better - Front brake bolts for example. Not cheap though..

Use a smaller fuel tank or carry less fuel and use tank foam, replace the battery, remove the starter motor.

Problem with lighter gear is its about 5 times as costly so you might want to keep repair costs in mind.

Ti is stupidly expensive for the weight saving you're going to get for a general duties race bike. Nothing wrong with changing the bolts out, but it would probably cost close to $1000 to do.

Some say he only showers on even days of the week

Some say he put an R1 motor in a coffee machine

All we know is he's Hewie.

My R6 is about 176kg with 5L fuel (i.e. race distance).

Considering that the GCR's state Superbikes can be no lighter than 165kg's empty of fuel, but with all other fluids, there should be some substantial weight which can be removed. Especially as the major components (wheels, swingarm, frames etc) have to remain OEM......

    For Supersport's, they must weight more than;
    158kg for 4 cylinder 600cc
    162kg for 3 cylinder 675cc
    166kg for 2 cylinder 750cc

Tank foam ?? What is it how does it work and where can I get it??

Yours sounds pretty close to mine then rich I must have had a full tank

Not too keen on removing the starter since I'm lazy and it's hard enough to push to scrutineering as it is let alone push starting it. ha ha

All good tips I'm thinking of replacing my current stock headers, custom mid pipe (pre exhaust eliminater) and current yoshi slip on to a Leo Vince full race kit or even an akro race system for a start but can't seem to find weights on Amy of them to compare them to the setup I made with the yoshi

This is where "Hologomation(sp) specials" are winners...

    Like the Ducati "R"s...

Lightweight wheels and stuff as standard...

Edit... I have a full race titanium and carbon Akro...the thing is very light...

I can tell you now, weighing the standard fairings/lights etc vs weghing painted race glass, I saved about 10-11kg. It shouldn't be different for most race glass, unless it has been repaired badly......

Having said that, there is about 1.5kg's difference between the Attack & Pro-fibre fairings I've got....

The akro website usually lists weights for both stainless and ti systems.
    http://www.akrapovic.com/typo3conf/e...0r_cz_2010.pdf

FYI on an R6 the saving is about an extra 350gm from stainless to ti for another $600-$800

That's it Rich, I would prefer to lose the weight off me and move better than pay the massive amount of money to lighten the bike or increase the HP
