Lap Timers @ B'bgallo

Looking to buy a lap timer for B'bgallo. Probably going to get the usual Ultra (or the Mini-Ultra) like most everyone else

However, is anyone using a GPS timer similar to these GPS Lap Timing or http://www.racelogic.co.uk/ . From what I've read Perth is not well serviced by the satellites and they are not that accurate here - not enough satellites and/or not in good orbit locations for accuracy. Any comments.

PS: and thank you but no farkling comments along the lines of how "Ultra's don't record laps greater than two minutes" or similar

PPS: anyone got a s/hand Ultra for sale?

Everyone seems to use the Ultras, and theres always a beacon there for them...

I would say get the Ultra...

Oh and they are capable of timing a 15 minute lap...

Must admit a lap timer would be nice.In the mean time I'll just have to guess my times! ROCK on 56's or is that dreaming my lap times, sometimes I can't tell the difference

Are you talking about the XT racing Ultra-lap timer? I've got one I use here and it's great. I hope there is a beacon at Barbagallo.

Yes - the most used one here from what I know - the display and receiver (no transmitter) is about AUS$279 from http://www.superbikesupply.com.au/en...subtype=Timers

As most use them someone 'usually' sets up a beacon.

Still looking for cheaper price or option.

Apatheticend - suggest you look at everything you may need and compare prices - you may find it is cheaper to buy whatever in Canada and ship it out with you - its often cheaper to buy direct from the US and have the parts/items for the bike shipped here.

Eg current price for XT Ultr direct appears to be US$199 - converts to AUD$213.20 for the Ultra receiver only and about US$20 postage which is at least AUD$40 dollars cheaper than buying it here.

56's on the short track are "SLOW" ... That would mean that Battista, Schnierer, Stronach and some others would still beat you on the long track .....

All of the work I plan on doing to the bike this year are already bought and will be coming with me. Suspension will be top of my list for next season but I've spent a mint this winter getting ready for the start of our season. I'll still be having my new bits sent to me from Canada. I've got a friend that owns a tuning shop and for example, I can get a Penske Tripple clicker of about $750CAD. Or Ohlins fork internals for $1000CAD.

It will hurt when it comes to buying parts in Oz but it is outweighed by the opportunity to ride so much more. I sispect the racers will be of another calibre there too. Heaps more seat time = better riders.

Can't wait.
See you guys soon.

Excuse my ignorance but what cable length do you need? Does it run from the bike's batteries or something?
