don't think I'll be getting practice in before race day.
Those who risk nothing, do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothing.
Brendon- this is private practice on Friday that is being refered to- not Trakdayz therefore there is no group 3... just saying this so you dont get your days mixed up and turn up to the wrong day..

SOMEONE PLEASE BRING A BEACON!!!
I will be there, want to play around with squat for more grip out of corners.

be there testing my wrist out 2moro - but just found my front and rear squat was nowhere near where it was originally set to - rear was 42mm FFS - cant adjust it any less than 39. Front was also out but got that back into the ballpark 33mm.
so will be travelling slowly (well slower than my usual pace)- so wave when you go past![]()

Santek/privateer racer there!

May be there..... If I feel like it![]()

.. I think you means 'sag' old fella.
Nigel is working on rear squat (relative swingarm angle) when under power, too little (high rideheight) gives wheelspin which equates to poor drive, too much unloads the front making it push the front (or loose the front!).
Based on much reading the best angle to start with, from which to fine tune, is 7 degrees.

That would be so dependant on tyres it's not even funny.
I wish I could get my head around the black art of suspension but I only dabble.

.. when changing tyre size significantly you can run out of adjustment, hence the sportbikes that have ajustable swingarm pivots (like my old 03 ZX6RR). Peeps in the USA used to run 200 series rubber on these bikes & would have made good use of this adjustability.

Where did you get 7 degrees from Smeghead? Every video and book I've ever read which mentions it says the ideal angle is 12 degrees......

AFAIK there is no such thing as an ideal angle, just a good starting point from which to work from.
Off the top of my head some of the significant things that affect the 'ideal' are: tyre diameter, shock linkage design, sprocket diameter (the front/rear combo contributes to the angle of attack of the chain), swingarm axle to pivot length. All these contribute to the amount of squat at a given moment. Don't forget this is the angle on a ladened bike under power, a static unladened bike may well be at 12 degrees. My assumption is of a working angle not a derived value from a static measurement; I shoulda made that point clear in my first post.
Over that last coupla years I have read everything I can on suspension & chassis setup with the goal of deriving 'feel' from a bike, this starting value is the consensus from all the reading.

Nice day for it...good seeing some familiar faces.
Unfortunately in the 3rd session or so i ALMOST had a collosile highside on turn 4 but managed to save it...killed my confidence though.
Also my brakes were fucked so i didn't ride in the last sessions...plenty of meat on the pads...braided lines...bled not long ago...not sure why they are so bad but might have to find someone with some bleeding gear tomorrow and see if that helps.

^^ You may have glazed your pads Colin. One of the experts could point you in the right direction if I'm wrong.
If they are glazed its as easy as rubbing them on a brick to "rough" them up.![]()
