    track day insurance???

    Hi All,

got me first track day on 9th through race craft. Just wondering if anyone here is insured with QBE and sorts out extra insurance for a track day?? I'll give them a buzz this week to ask, but just curious if anyone here has done this?? If so, is it super expensive ???
Apologies if this question has been asked heaps before, but cheers for any replies.

    .... counting the days now!!!!

I was under the impression that no insurance in WA was available for the track.

Not to be an alarmist, but Combined have indicated after this year they will be taking bike racing off the menu for their clients. For years they have sold policies to bike racers on the basis that you are covered anywhere, doing anything, including bike racing. The only time you couldn't claim was if you were skydiving, or were pissed, which is fair enough. BUt I have heard from two sources that as of next year, bike racing is off the list...
HOWEVER they will continue to honour existing policies, so if you wish to be included, you'll have to be in this year. I don't know if Mike Jovanou is still doing it, but I have a Combined policy with a pleasant chap named Andrew Robinson. We get him in for a chat once a year to the Historic club and the VMX club to canvass our members, because he isn't a bullshitter, and gives it to you straight.
His mob ph no is 0433 242 959.
Just to clarify, this is NOT bike insurance, it is personal accident and/or income cover.
Worth a look, but sounds like you'd be well advised to be in this year...

    Regards GD

No cover from QBE for any form of track riding. Advanced training is covered by them for only a few schools in WA - AHG advanced ride day is not included. [Edit] now only one school- Elite.

That was what they told me in Febuary 2011.

Cuna via Police and Nurses will cover training on the track. That is, an instructor must be present, and laps cannot be timed.

would pay to recheck details with CUNA things changed recently and they're now underwritten by QBE in australia so there may have been some changes.

i recently claimed with Cuna and had no problems. I didnt lie to them as I didnt want to commit insurance fraud because if you get found out you will never get insurance again. i told them I was doing a training course at Barbs following an instructor around the track (and I was) and they paid out within about a month and then sold the bike back to me.

I cant speak about other policies but mine says no motorsport. As far as I was concerned and I guess they agree is that following an instructor around the track and being coached is rider training and not motorsport.

still worth checking it out Thunderbird I'm in the same situation as yourself my wife works as an agent for them and any dealings I have had with them have been beyond reproach, but they did get sold and a change of underwriters around a month ago so i wouldn't rely on it since there is the possibility of something having changed.

I managed to get it in writing from AAMI that I'd be covered if I binned it at barbs. As long as its a training day with instructors and not racing (no numbers on bike, lap timing, racing for prizes etc).
