    Trakdayz at collie 18/12/2011

    Who is going?

First time there and heading up this weekend with another poster, just a GP1 spot.
Have done Barbs a decade (or 2) ago so starting from scratch again.

Great weather down at Collie yesterday. Travelled down with Thunderbird and his lovely wife.
Once again a big thanks go to the organiser's (trackdayz), support staff and especially to Glenn, Aaron and Mel for their coaching and time following me on the track to provide feedback at the end of the session.
Had some interesting moments on the track, however that was discussed in person and as a group and all was sorted.
I won't mentioned what happened to Thunderbird, as I'll let him get on and tell the story. Just disappointed that it happened on the last session.
See you guys next year and have a Great Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Thanks Jay D. It's rewarding as a coach knowing that you've helped someone...makes it all worthwhile. For those that haven't done Collie...great little track and a lot of fun

Crashed again at the track only partly my fault (well I guess all my fault, but had there not been a crash right in front of me I would have been fine but that all comes with experience). The instructor crashed and I was about 10 meters behind him as he was showing me some lines before I was going to take the lead and have him watch me. I made the split decision to run off the track to the left instead of trying to make it aroundd the corner on the right in case I hit him. Then I think I grabbed the front (idiot I know) to try and slow down and that caused the bike to crash. i went down and ended up rolling into the instructors bike. I have red paint on my helmet from his bike and my back is extremely sore but no serious injury. Off to the physio today. Bike looks pretty good. I have the accident on video and I will post it up later. As of now my new signature is born as it looks like I spent more time in the sand than a golfer. Big thanks to the coaches, hayden for checking my bike earlier in the day and Jay D who helped Rhyanna load the bikes onto the trailer while I was with the Ambos and also to the Ambos for checking me out.

EDIT After reviewing the video it looks like I was doing fine when I ran off the track but his bike started to slide in front of me and in trying to stop before I ran it over i hit the front brakes and the rest is history. I will post the video when I figure out how to compress it to a reasonable size and upload to youtube.

I know right, but Im learning from each one. No one expects their coach to go down in front of them though, but my reaction times and decision may need to be a bit smoother.

Also was good to meet everyone in my group.

He was fine as he just had a little low side on the track as opposed to me when I went down i crashed into his bike. Just glad I had my back protector on.
We werent even going that fast but his bike just went down. Having said that he had cold tyres and he wasnt riding his bike as one of the other coaches wanted to ride his.
