pits will now be in the inside of the start/finish straight, a couple of walls will be pushed back further from the track. No layout changes to the track itself.
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

Pretty sure the new pits are only for the v8's to use. We still have our tin roof.

Lugshury!
when I was your age, we had to pit in a shoebox in middle o' road!

Sure am glad I ain't a baby boomer !
I have to move all the tyres in the basin back six meters from where they are now. So that should also make things a little safer.
isnt the track getting re-surfaced and widened aswell?
Not 100% but I thought I read that recently somewhere?

Yeah I heard that also Pottz. Should know more next week.
i believe there will be a new wall on the inside of the esses too, blocking a drop down to the pit area since it will be dug out..could be interesting.
Speed is of the essence, and race control is gone completely......ground work has started days ago on the new pit area and fill coming very soon.
I am close to the project and I've seen plans, but I know things are subject to change and I will wait to see things in concrete.
some interesting reading here

Argh, a new track layout is seriously needed. This will make my decision to buy another bike or not.
Can anyone 'in the know' confirm whether or not a change of layout will be happening?

no word yet, so they're still throwing band aids at the old girl.

This is what's happening. I've spoken to the car club and the DSR. The work does not include any changes to the actual racing track other than the new pit entry and exit. There was talk of widening the track at one stage but that is not happening. Most of the money is being spent on the the new infield pit complex.

Damn it, makes me want to move over east... If this is a "major" upgrade, then I fear WA will not have an international track for another 10+ years at least.
"Who breaks last, wins"

It's NOT a major upgrade. It is the FIRST upgrade.
Links have bee provided with more than enough information. Have a read, or enjoy the east coast.

WA pretty much is international to everybody else in the rest of the world. So what we have is 'international'.
Unless you mean something that is built to FIA/FIM standards, in which case keep dreaming, it simply won't happen, not without another Lindsay Fox stumping up the cash (he's the guy who saved/revamped Philip Island).

There are 3 sets of upgrades ... first one is the new pit area and few small changes.
Track by number 3 but that could change by then.
