Actually that would make sense, and I must admit my links to the WASCC have become tenuous since I stopped spending my whole life up there.
Although, no, it still doesn't, if all local racing is coming from the existing paddock area, I can't see them crossing the track to use the new pit lane?
When I was racing the pit lane was very narrow, and the area between the pitlane and the wall was sand, I have video of me diving over the rail on fire from a refueling fire during the "300km" race one year. There were also about a third as many carports as there are now, and we used to get so many entries that most cars were on the grass area in the paddock.
“The pit lane area, the bridge over the track, the administration and media area… we are very confident it will be ready in time.”
Would mean we could use the new pits without having to cross over the track![]()

From the MCRC website - "Barbagallo Track update:As of 8.2.12
Track development is well and truly underway. The tyre wall down and around the Basin area has now been moved back a considerable distance giving substantial more run off (thanks to SG Excavating). Safety barriers behind the new pits (infield) have been completed and they are currently pouring pit wall. Turns 5 (Skyline) and 7 (bottom of hill) have had earth works completed and safety walls will be put in within the next 4 weeks. New infield garages have form work erected and the new media centre panels have been poured and should be in a vertical position next week."
A comment on the MCRC quote above, and I think I may have said it before... all of the corners at Barbagallo Raceway have names, most of which are of sponsors who contribute to the running costs of the circuit: Why does the motorcycle community refuse to use these names (and substitute with meaningless names like "Skyline" and "Basin")?
i personally know of people in the car comunity using 'no name' in place of 'skyline'... seriously, a corner called 'no name'
how many international tracks have corners such as "ford fast brake' or is that 'man up corner' now? i didnt know the corner changed.
eau rouge...
curva parabolica...
New PB 58.96 seconds - 19/5/13

I don't know about meaningless? Skyline seems meaningful and easily recognised to me?
Guessing MCRC not obligued to use the naming issued by WASCC(etc) .. maybe they like the colloquial names![]()

Off topic! (Nomenclature of turn 1 through 7 is just fine with me)

Most of the turns change names as sponsors come and go... Turn 6 has been Kolb Corner for as long as I've been around there though....
I mostly stick to turns 1-7 though...
BTW, which corner is "Skyline" supposed to be?

From hazy memory, Oulton Park in the UK had a turn called Knicker Brook. The name came from a demolition expert who was commissioned to remove a tree stump using explosives.
Shortly after the explosion a courting couple were seen running up the hill.
A pair of knickers were found close to the scene hence the name.
I could have the wrong track, it was a long time ago.
Citation needed.
