Well I thought I’d start the process by posting some photos and information on the fit out of my track van:

She’s a 2006 Mercedes Vito W639 LWB Crew Cab 115CDI 5 speed Automatic. It has a 2148cc 4 cylinder diesel with 110kw. These vans are a very popular track day riders van in Europe.

The extras I’ve fitted are all on the cheap off eBay out of China or second-hand. Here’s a list for information:

    Nudge Bar – Gumtree $200.
Alloy wheels off a 2002 ML320 for $350 delivered from Tempe Tyres in NSW.
Tyres (Indonesian) from Tyrepower $125 each 235/45x17.
Rear carpet from Bunnings. Marine carpet about $60
Front wheel channel Ezi Trailer $60
Cargo Barrier $100 from Just Commercials in Wangara. From an L300 Express Mitsubishi
Front centre consoles eBay from Bulgaria $70 delivered.
Soundproofing closed cell foam to roof $140 Clark Rubber
Left over insulation bats from my house placed in all doors and cavities.
Noise insulation for floor about $250 from Bunnings and eBay.
Leather steering wheel cover eBay China $12.
Factory cruise control kit eBay UK $220 plus $150 to dealer to activate.
DTUK tuning box eBay UK $330.
Rice Boy 52mm gauges $150 (Boost, Oil & Coolant Temp).
6500k blue Xenon headlight globes $25 eBay UK.
Upgraded speakers for the standard radio/CD $65 from Supercheap.
About another $200 for miscellaneous eye bolts, cargo net, brackets, bolts etc.

So all up about $3000 to get it set up the way I wanted. It was quite a lot of physical work and time from me of course.

    Amanda and Donna like this.

Bloody hell, Scott, I'll be embarrased to show my face in the old Patrol with the trailer! Can you remember the site you got the steering wheel cover from, that looks mint and I need a new one.

Thats awesome Scott, I've had mine for over a year and haven't done half of what you've achieved. The steering wheel cover looks great, I'll be getting one of those.

Prob not ideal for motorbikes but I would love one of these for MTB and Road Pushie storage and accommodation at races.

I had to get a wheel alignment. The Xtra LWB Vito is 3430mm wheel base and won't fit onto the normal wheel aligners you find at Tyrepower, Bob Janes etc etc.

I had to take mine to Drive Straight in Welshpool. These fellas do trucks, buses, large 4wd's and long LWB vans. It costs more ($120) because their large laser alignment rigs are expensive.

They were quick ... in and out in less than an hour ... and the van drove really well afterwards.

Looking to get an ex-delivery hiace with checkerboard interior over here, similar to the 'free candy' theme, I think an icecream cone on the roof, menu with some custom 'delights' on the side and "it's a small world" blaring through a loudspeaker should work well. Can drive briskly past schools to get the fat kids running for extra amusement.
    Giggity.

Whoops. This was meant to be a reply to post 20 from Ozboy.
    Phone browser for the lose...

That'd have to be turbo diesel.. Not petrol eh Ozboy?
    Still impressive figures.

Don't have space to keep a van. So im looking at the all new ford ranger spacecab version, so if i need to, i could get the bike on the back. Bit harder to load a ute compared to a van... But there is enough low retaining walls around to back upto and roll on and off at barbs. Slight issue at home... But my drive way slopes down about 10 degrees.. Point ute down and roll bike in from street... Practice makes perfect.

That is true Thirsty, a 3.0L turbo diesel. Definately not a cheap version of the Vito, but setup correctly (noise dampening), these vans would make a great daily runabout.

Servicing is at a whopping 30k interval, so just check your oil, water etc daily and off you go!

I'd check the dimensions of the vans V's the utes Thirsty, I sold my ute (XR6 turbo) to get this van and its the best decision I've made regarding vehicles.

Yeah im sorta limited to only 1 cage... So a 4x4 ute is my current needs covered. The new Ranger is huge. I need a bit of room. But for now finances dictate i ride to the track for trakdayz. Hmm looking at a second bike too... But same as above... Now's not the right time.

    Certainly like scotts setup.

So how did it go on the run down to Collie, Scott, did you notice a big difference from your old one once you were fully loaded?

This van is much quieter and more powerful. It was a pleasure driving to Collie. This one sits on 2600RPM at 110 compared to 3200RPM for the old manual.

She sat on 100km/hr on the cruise control straight up the Roelands Hill fully loaded. The old one wouldn't do that.

I picked up two universal centre consoles off eBay from Bulgaria of all places ... $70 delivered. They arrived in less than a week so Bulgarian Post is the business!

I made up a bracket to bolt to the back of the seats and mounted the consoles on that. They're not the strongest or most robust construction but for the money you pay you can't expect too much. I had to reglue one of them.

Ever since I was a young boy I dreamed of owning a "Universal Centre Console" from Bulgaria ... I have two and my life is now complete.
