    2011 CBR250 owners...any stalling issues?

Just wondering if any 2011 CBR250 owners have had any issues with their bikes stalling while downshifting.

I've had about 3 different stalling scenarios:
    1. Doing an e-brake at 40km/h and pulling the clutch in as I brake, engine just died as I was slowing down
    2. Doing about 80km/h on 6th and downshifting to 5th, engine decides to stall
    3. Downshifting to 1st, pull and held in the clutch and engine dies about 1 second after the clutch was pulled in

These issues occurred on both cold and warmed up engines. I can't seem to produce any repeatable results the first two scenarios but the third seems to occur quite frequently.

My bike's fairly new with only 175km's on the clock so I'm not sure whether its the ECU "learning"...but I would have thought Honda would sort something like 'Engine-stalling-while-riding' before production.

Going to call the dealer and have them check it out on Monday but just wondering if any other CBR250 owners have had this issue and can shed some light on it...

Can't find any instructions on how to increase the idle since its all electronically controlled.

Mine's idle at 1500-2000, that wouldn't that be the normal range?

Thats my normal idle, and I think changing it might be a job for the service centre. It's still under warranty, so I'd take it back and see what they say. Problem is, if you can't replicate it every time then will prove difficult to fix. You never know though, it may be something they have seen before.

its not an idle issue, especially when downshifting.

hopefully the dealer can find something

Fuel air ratio can cause funny things on downshifts / quick throttle shut offs.

Does is still happen if you keep the revs up during a downshift ?

I've gotten mixed results, I've started matching the revs to try and prevent it but on a few occasions the stall occurs when I pull in the clutch...by the time I twist the throttle, the engine's already kaput.

It also occurs when I'm on 1st gear (at which point I'm just moving along at 10-15km/h, so I'm at "walking"revs only), I pull in the clutch a tiny bit to do my o-turns and the engine seizes.

Yeah, I've put 3.5kish kms on mine and had no troubles whatsoever. Take it in and see what Honda say.

Take it in for sure, warranties going to cover whatever the issue is.

Out of interest when it cuts out during downshifts at speed does it fire back up when you let the clutch out in the new gear ?, if not does it start easily after you've come to a stop ?

Booked in for a check at the end of next week....hope I stay lucky till then

I haven't actually tried letting the clutch go when it cuts out, I just punch the starter straight-away while keeping the clutch in and keep on going

Yeah, starts quite easily but I usually give it a good dose of throttle to hurry it up.

I'm beginning to suspect it may have something to do with snapping-off the throttle, will have to try this hypothesis later tonight.

Don't think it has to do with snapping off the throttle...doesn't sound right

Don't suspect anything. Take it back and tell them you want it sorted.and a replacement bike in the interim. I saw a dude with a fucked brake switch on one the other day.

Pretty poor showing for brand new bikes.

In fairness not all Honda's are buckets of shit.
    These new ones are though.

It's like Honda managed to un-learn how to make an awesome 250...

Just got back from uni/work with some ride data:

Test 1 - running at 80km/h at 6th gear at 4-5k rpm on a cold engine on straight road (slight uphill). Involves snap-off throttle, clutch-in and held and downshift.
    Findings:
    - Does not stall on clutch in and on snap-off throttle
    - Stalls exactly as I change down a gear while still holding the clutch in and no throttle. Gearbox issue perhaps?

Test 2 - repeat of Test 1, same result

Test 3 - same as Test 1 but this time engine is warmed up. No stall.

So I've got 3 possible areas of concern, clutch, throttle and gear change, will try to narrow that down hopefully.

Finally tried it and you're right, it jumps straight back to life, up to the revs it would be in on the change down, but on the second separate stall, letting the clutch out just slows the bike down (perhaps not enough inertia to restart the engine). Haven't tried to see how well it'll start up when brought to a stop. will try that out...sometime

Yeah, getting it looked at end of next week. My problem is that, having read some responses from the US where riders have had the same issue, it seems the dealers have been unable to source the problem. Primarily because the service guys couldn't replicate the stall, they then brush it off as an anomaly or rider issue. What makes it more confusing is that some guys says it'll go away after the first service while others have it happening at 4000+ kms and everywhere in between

I called the dealer and Honda today about it and according to them, its the first time they've heard of it. I figured pinpointing the conditions which would cause it gives me a better chance sorting it with the service guys.

Any one know if the dealers would charge me if they don't find anything wrong? I assume they would...but hoping you more experienced folk will tell me otherwise

I think Honda may be trying to get rid of their "soulless" moniker and inject some stereotypical Italian reliability to boost their passion

Thanks for all the responses guys
