Whats the actual difference between an official import 250rr and a grey import one? Im after the physical differences, not that a grey may have the clock wound back, harder to insure, yada

If cleanliness is next to godliness, why was jesus a dirty sandal-wearing beardo?
technically there is no difference im aware of. and i believe both were manufactured overseas and some were manufacturer imports as opposed to privately imported
the aus manufactured bikes typically are worth more as there is no guarantee of the true odometer reading (kms) of a complianced import.
in reality there is no guarantee of the true KM's on an aus delivered bike either.
be wary of 250 shops such as sumoto - they are arseholes and charge exhorbitant prices on bikes and prey on newbie fears by saying thier bikes are covered by warranty (though after sales service reports are bad) and a gear deal (just a load of chinese made shit gear that you really would not want to stake your life on)
these bikes are rather bullet proof, id recommend buying off an enthusiast and the money you save buying privately put into some good gear and a decent helmet. [/b]
thanks, wheres the quote from?

I heard that Aus Cibbys had twin rotors on the front brake, and imports didnt ?
But Im a newbie and thought sumoto's bikes looked wicked haha, thanks again PSB![]()
you'll find the mc19 cbr250r has one rotor and that the mc22 cbr250rr has twin rotor.
and they both cost too much
No amount of genius can overcome a preoccupation to detail.
No, that's the difference between the CBR250R and CBR250RRI heard that Aus Cibbys had twin rotors on the front brake, and imports didnt ?

The R has:
single disc front brakes
different fairing
18,000rpm redline (instead of 19,000rpm)
and a few other things...

I can't think what more you could possibly need to know... except maybe this:
that is true but one look at the disc brakes or pillion pegs and you will know wether its an R or an RR.Might be worth pointing out that the Import 'R's are repainted as 'RR's, hence some confusion[/b]
Sumotos bikes do LOOK nice on the website...shame you cant say that when you see them up close...
pretty sure the RR and R have different swingarms too

yep. rr has the "gull arm"
r has a box section swinger.
rear subframe is probably different. probably a few other changes also

I think the R had a more comfy seat from what I have been told...

The difference between the R and the RR is in the age..
You'll find that the MC19 was a much older bike than the MC22 - the color schemes improved and there were lots of small refinements..
The way to tell an R from a RR is the dual disc brakes up front..
I'm told that " RR " means Race Replica - have no idea what the single " R " stands for.. kinda like hyosungs gt250'R'
Still, for bikes that are 10 years of age or older.. for them to be so highly regarded and sought after.. there's gotta be something in the engineering that is pretty special.. most cars after 10 years are needing some serious work.. whereas most of these bikes have been ridden hard.. by noobies.. and they're still ticking over nicely..
I'm gonna sell my cibby in the next couple of months.. if anyone's interested( but not because I want to.. she's just a touch too little for my sized body ! ) ( shut up elmoh.. )
Posts pertaining to the sale of this bike have been moved here as I got very tired of people quoting the same farking huge 2048x1536 pics over and over and over and over again and this thread IS NOT the for sale section![]()
Come and see us in the 2011 Avon Descent - we're racing boat #234 !

While CBR's are nice i can't fathom the reason why first time buyers spend so much money on a 250. Would be better off buying a heap of crap and save to buy a 600cc+ later in the piece if they like bikes so much. Each to their own, but I like to own all of my toys rather than pay the bank for the privelage.
think its called Re-sale!! look after it, means less money ur gonna have to scrounge for your bigger bike. Way i looked at it anyway..[/b]
I suppose that's a good way of looking at it. These bikes hold there value very well so it's not lost money. If you can afford it now, you may as well make that first year as painless as possible by having a comfortable, reliable, nippy little bike,( I know i've been comfy on my Kwaka but i'd hate to imagine having to put up with some shitbox that whole time [i ride everyday]). Then at least as Wedge mentioned, it's less to come up with for the next one. Soooooooort of an investment ( in the "you'd take a small loss" kinda way) Of course this theory could not apply to bikes that are liable to experience greater amounts of depreciation.
that was my way of thinking, and part of the reason i got my little cibby. To hell with the people that say to buy a POS- im gonna have it for a year, and if buying a cbr wont lose me much in the long run, im happy
