    Better late than never Suzuki

For those of you playing at home suzuki has launched a new 250 in the uk. Hopefully it comes to OZ and brings more competition to the tiny 250 segment --->Suzuki reveals sub-£3500 Inazuma 250 - | Motorbike reviews | Latest Bike Videos | MCN

Suzuki has launched an all-new 250 called the Inazuma at the NEC show. An all-new 248cc parallel twin powers what Suzuki says is B-King-influenced design for newcomers and returning riders. No price, power or weight figures have yet been announced, but MCN understands Suzuki will seek to undercut both the Kawasaki Ninja 250R (£4182) and the Honda CBR250R (£3688).

The firm is frank in saying the Inazuma (which means lightning in Japanese) is a response to the "growing demand for reliable but cost effective means of transport". But if that makes it sound not so much a bike as just a vehicle, specifically one for those in need it's probably a fault of the translation. Elsewhere the headlight is described as having a "dauntless and powerful front mask".

    It's a baby B-King! The B-Prince!
The front and tank looks good. The forks look spindly though. That fender could shade small children.

Like the twin pipes gpx styles, gives a little more presence on the road.

Have you seen the list of top selling bikes? The 250 is a strong market.

Production costs and legislation be it power restrictions/safety/emissions. PSB must have had this argument a thousand times *why don't they bring back the babyblade/zxr250/gsxr250 etc, the Il4's of old*

It probably makes more economic sense to push out a twin rather than a four. If they went to the expense of designing an inline four it wouldn't come in cheaper than the ninja/CBR and I would also hazard to guess that they would detune it so much that it nullify the benefit of having extra cylinders in the first place.

for 3500 pounds with shitty suspension and brakes, i'm sure they could manage it.

its not like we're talking cbr125 money here.

also: zero design costs. the bandit is already done, designed, and they had the tooling for it already made....

i know i know... new 250s have to be shitty little machines, but it would be nice to have at least one 4 pot out there.

Don't get me wrong I love the Il4 250s and one made with todays teck would be but unfortunately the constants nannying of the legislation plays right into the hands of the companies who get away with making inferior products. We also forget us westerners are not the biggest market for these things, you don't see many Il4s in Asia/Korea/china the little single and the od twin are king.

More importantly, who would pay $12k+ for a 60hp, USD forked, 150kg 250cc four stroke? sure it would be an awesome peice of hardware but would you buy one? Really?

Anyone remember the YZF-R 125? YAmaha's atempt at building a "quality" leaner bike with decent forks and brembo brakes? It cost $8k and nobody bought one. Anywhere. Ever.

Don't like the tank in the second pic, looks like a transforming, stormtrooping, Darth Vader type Dogs head.
