    Difference between CBR250r 2011 and 2012 models

    Hey all,
I'm new to riding (currently learning) and a new member to PSB.
I'm also looking to buy a new Honda CBR250r. I inquired about the 2011 models December last year at Rick Gills Honda and the Honda shop in Joondalup (which is apparently closing down some time soon) and they were both selling for $6,000 with a rrp of $6,299.
My question is should I wait for the 2012 model and pay full rrp or look around for a 2011 model. This site: 2012 Honda CBR 250 R | Preview | Motorcycle News says there are no upgrades at all to the 2012 model. True? Anywhere I could get a better deal?

    Big orange building?
They WILL NOT be 2011 models.
These will be 1980/90 models, 4 cylinders, pretty china fairings, 'low km' (aka rewound spedos), and are only 2011 because that will be when that were complied in aus after they came from Japan.

2011/2012 will be the same, I doubt even the colours will change.

Buy one when you want one, and pick what ever suits. The 2012 will not have better re sale value, but will sell before the other '11 model with the same km's/condition/price.
    season 2012 is coming.....

Sorry man, was just tryin to help a dude out bro...

If that's what they do then so be it, I was only in there buying spark plugs and ended up talking about a bike for my missus... and he said a couple were coming in from Sydney, guess it makes sense now if they are rewound imports... Honestly I wouldn't buy from them, I would do my research as I do and find the bike I want.

Some people aren't prepared to put in the work to sort a 2nd hand bike out from Gumtree/Ebay etc... and prefer something from a shop.

No harm, was a warning for the op, not a go at you.

Those bikes will still be a good buy (and for my money if I had to buy a 250, probably high on my list)

    Just sayin' a 2011 cbr250 may not be a 2011 cbr250

That is an american site, they are just adding the Tricolour to thier line up, which we've had all year in non abs form.

The only difference a 2012 will be the build date stamp on the frame... and probably wioll be the same for quite a few yrs yet.

cbr abs price should be $6400 ride away, non abs $5900 ride away... slightly less for 2011 plated ones when any new stock arrives.

There is a shortage of these bike atm due to the damage to the thailand factory where these bikes are assembled. What bikes are in dealer stock is what is available till Feb, possibly March. All of these bikes are 2011 compliance and due to the short supply, it's unlikely if there will be any significant discounts... Laws of supply and demand y'know. There have been no updates from Honda re colour changes from 2011-2012 either. Hope this helps

Just found out from the rocko honda store that they are awating a delivery of 2011 CBRs!! im totally devastated!
I have included the email just for what ever..

    Hi Chris,

    Thanks for your inquiry.

The 2011 CBR250R’s for $5990.00 ride away for the standard model and $6490.00 ride away for the ABS model.

Due to an unforseen production delay Honda Australia has very limited stock available, I have just received a dispatch notice for some Red/Silver ABS models that I should have in the shop on today or tomorrow.

We do have all colours on back order and are hoping to see them all back in store in the next two weeks also I have a standard demo here that is available to test ride.

Thanks again and hope to hear from you soon,
    Dr§han

If your only going to be able to get hold of 2011 models, you may aswell buy a used one.
Seen em on bikesales.com with low km's for $5k.

Save yourself a grand for a good jacket / helmet / draggins / boots etc.

Just had a look and maybe in the eastern states but definately not here, its just not worth buying a s/h 250 here when a new one is under 6k. Some ppl want crazy prices for 250's. even 4 grand for 10yo ones and 5 grand for 5yo ones.

Still worth buying 2nd hand, even at those prices since you'll probably be able to sell it for that when your year is up.

Not when a new bike has a 24 month warranty, new chain and sprockets that are actually lubed, new bearings, new tyres, no damage , no noob owners etc etc etc and you can ride away for 6k.

Not complaining, I'll probably get 4k for mine in 5 yrs or so when its been thashed trashed and bashed as a one owner.

Yes you can get the Tricolour but not with abs, the abs models have a better, bigger 3 piston front caliper.

Hmm. I'm looking at either a CBR or a Ninja, and I didn't think you could get the tricolour one. Still think I prefer the skittle Ninja

The Ninja is better for a shorter rider, has a fisher price dash and no fuel injection or abs option.

But to quote psb 'Whichever one gives you a boner'
tests mean nothing, its whichever one you are most happy to ride.
The cbr is a single and handles better.
