Lightbulb Fix your bike after getting hit by a bus :) (Hyosung GT250R)

Before I start I ride a Hyosung GT250R Black, I know some people are gonna be like haha a 250 and a hyo well I love it and i spent my money on it and I am proud of it, but yea I prob want a bigger one soon but awesome first bikes.

So Guys got hit by a bus last week all fun, half of it was my fault cause i was like ohh wow bus i wanna hit that and bang straight into it.

Long sory short it was double lines and single lane he was coming the opposite way and it was a slight left curve. I was leaning into the curve and then saw that he was a bit over the double line and into my lane. I tried to ove out the way but at the end got clipped by it and wen flying into the nature strip/kerb/mountain and then back on the road for a bit of sideways action on the road.

Luckily, because I has all my gear on, I did not even get a scratch on me (well maybe a couple but not serious ones). I got up and was almost in tears after looking at my baby (ohh btw its a GT250R 2008 Black ) lying there on the road.

I had a another rider pull over and help me out when I picked up my baby it was devestating to see her fairings all f'd (scrached and broken) with a nice puddle of fuel under it.

I was like Nooo not the bike, and the othr guy is like f the bike r u ok, and I was like yea I will be fine but not my baby i love her too much.

So after like half an hour of it not starting we figured out that the kill switch was on, that didnt help still no ignition, eventually after letting it rest for a while it magically started but now did not idle. SO it started but to keep it going I had to keep reving it otherwise it would just switch off. (the solution is explained later)

So rode it home (another 2 hour ride not fun on a fucked up bike)

Put her in the garage and put a cover on it and didnt look at it for a couple of days. Eventually assesed the damage (will attach photos tonight or later) heres a list:

    - Right top fairing (scratched and broken)
    - Right bottom fairing (scratched like crazy and broken in a number of places,
    - Front brake lever and right handle bar scratched.
    - Ohh and it would always stall unless I kept reving it.
    - Right indicator
    - Right Mirror (thoes two are the usual things to go first any ways)

And other scratches and stuff on the engine and body, ohh yea and my Sexy screaming deamon exhaust has a number of bumps and scratched now, meh still sounds frickin sweet

So got online looking for parts, they are VERY expensive on Ebay and other bike websites/shops.

I have found the best place for Hyosung Parts I HIGHLY recomend you use it. hyosungsource.com

It is the best thing in the world, I ordered all the above parts and all up $300 including delivery so thats two right fairings, right side mirror and right indicator. And amazingly i had it at my door in 4 DAYS (two of which were a weekend).

And the quality of the parts was amazing they come from the manafactureer and are shipped from South Korea. Get On IT people !!!!

Well then I took off the right fairing or tried to. Ended up having to take both right nad left fairings off. Need to be careful as they are attached down the bottoma nd need to slide them under the bike, there i a vid on youtube just search fairing removal 250 or something.

after that f'd up heaps of screws cause they were sooooo tight, so i recomend using ur drill at high inter speeds so it doesnt grind into the screw, but I am assuming you all know how to take a screw off so yea.

That was all saturday to take it apart got the parts Tuesday and put them on. Same be very careful the fairing are fragile and you dont wanna break a brand new pair

I will put photos up later so you can see what iu mean and what I did.

Well any questions on fairing removal, installation indicators mirrors windsheald or whatever feel free to ask here to help will try to reply asap.

And now by baby is back on the road and sounds and looks awesome again I love it.

Ohh and be careful guys you might be great riders its the other dickheads on the road we need to look for.

    Peace Out

glad to hear you were relatively unscathed, the other rider was right, you can fix a bike up, but prety hard to put yourself back together again.

    Enjoy your riding

Sounds like you have a vested interest in the company you got your parts from, if infact your just another rider and buyer good work on getting your shit sorted so fast and easily.

Good to hear you got out unscathed, very unfortunate about the bike but it won't be your last . What was ever wrong with the bike in terms of it stalling unless you reved it?

If you were a cat you have used up a life.

    Interesting read Yusof.
    It has left me wondering about a few things such as;
Did the bus driver stop and check how you were?
Did you put in a police report about a bus crossing the lines and running into you, using the witnessing motorcyclist as a corroborator?
How did you sort the idling problem?

    Cheers

OK....... didnt expect this many replies and thanks guys reallt appreciate the concern,

and yea it was funny lol but yea still as long as i am alive its all good.

Well lets get to the stalling issue, All it was that when i start it and let the throttle go it would turn off and not idle, below is how i fixed it,

on the left side of the Hyosung GT250R where the engine is located (in the middle) there is a black round nob thingy will attach a photo.

So basically its a curved screw which meets the throttle infront of the carbs just behind your air filter. You turn it right to make it tighter (higher idle revs) or left to loosen for lower idle reving.

THe manual says around 1000 - 1500 revs or something like that I have mine closer to 1500 it goes fine.

Ohh and no man didnt even know about the company until google showed it to me, i am just frickin happy about the service and the awesome parts.

Ohh and no bus driver did not stop and no did not do a police report (f it) and NO cars pulled over just another rider and he came by a while later so wouldnt have seen the crash,

So the bus driver did a hit and run
I'd follow up the bus company, they must know what buses are where and you'd have left your mark on the side of the bus.
No way this should be let go.

The bus company is sponsored by the cheap HYO parts supplier.

lucky to get a good deal and cbf going after any one, it cost me $300 and I am still alive so f it, and its not worth going after any one since I have no clue who to go after so yea but thatnks for the concern.
