I've had two mc19's in two years.
Can't be bothered writing a big post and gettin flamed as yes there over 20years old now. But I love them. 4 cyl screamer that loves to rev. You should come close to getting your money back on resale. Etc. etc

The mc19 has a fuel pump which does get a bit dicky with age as most of them are Grey imports.
They has one less disc brake, a fuel pump as opposed to the mc22( please correct me if I'm wrong on the fuel pump please.)

All in all there practically the same bike. Just buy one, enjoy it and save your money for a big bike.
Pm me if you would like too know more.
Mine will be for sale in a few days and should be seen in the FS soon if you wanna have a look.

I never had any real problems with the MC19 they are a great bike for there age like Watt says the fuel pump is abit dicky but its a easy fix when it does go wrong the one brake disc didn't bother me as i think the one on the MC19 is slightly larger in size compared to the MC22 with its dual discs.

    Anyway they are awesome bikes

Cheers guys! I ended up buying her last weekend Im fucking in love! Have either of you ever had problems with the engine randomly turning itself off when you stop at a traffic light or intersection? It happened about three times over the weekend on a ride and im pretty sure it wasnt from me being a noob an stalling as the clutch was always in...

Check your idle speed and adjust as neccesary. It's should be around 1500 give or take 100 rpm.
The adjuster is behind the left fairing, we're your knee would sit while riding.
If not it would be something to do with carbys, but idle speed should sort you out in the meantime.

fuel pump? first ive heard of it, mines vacuum/gravity fed.

anyways, they are great fun and as long as you havnt gotten your self a complete shit box, youll be OK.

Of course things wear out so prepare your self for some spanner work.

I got a shop manual on file somewhere if you need it.

New pink paint job and chrome RR stickers, sounds like a Sumoto grey import.

If you want to scare yourself, google them...

Hope you got a good one.
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

Yeah apart from the engine randomly stopping three times the other day she is a beauty. Runs and sounds fantastic... but ill get her checked out just in case.
I know the MC19s can have a bad rep sometimes but I couldnt help myself. I went to check her out, sat on her and my mind was made up! The previous owner had her for 2 years with no dramas...so yeah hopefully i did get a good one! fingers crossed... at just under 26000kms for an 88 model im hoping shes going to last me.

Cheers, Steve. Could come in handy

who said they have a bad rep?

anyways, in regards to the stalling check the idle, and plugs to start with. maybe some fresh fuel and a service and see how you go from there.

also, 26,000k's is more like 126,000k's!! but not to worry, as long as she runs ok and doesnt burn up oil itll be all ok.

Ive just read things like loss of power, problems with the starter motor and fuel pump etc etc, which is to be expected because they are an old bike. I dont know much about bikes so ill get my partner to check those things out...

    Cheers for the advice!
