    Hyo GT250R Cam Chain

    Hey fellow PSB'ers,
Looking for people advice and thoughts.
Yes I ride a Hyosung. I just had a major service done and they told me it needs one new cam chain and possibly the adjuster for it as well. It's got 14k on the clock and it's not even a year old. I have had it serviced at regular intervals.
Now would this fall under warranty and should the cam chain + other related parts already need replacing?
Looks like I'll be selling it soon but I need it in good working order for this.
    Thanks in advance!

Cam chain and tensioners should not need replacing at 14k!! Have asked them why they need replacing? Oh and I would think that should be covered under your new bike warranty.. Not sure.

i wouldnt say it wont be covered by warranty if it needed replacing under normal conditions/kms.. 14,000km change sounds suss as "michael jackson holding a kids sleepover with a bubble party"

for it to be changed with that many kms on it should be warrenty as there is a problem with that model bike and if i was you i would get a 2nd answer from another shop..
"even tho your riding a korean commuter with street fairings" 14,000 is way short of its chain to be replaced & i would fight them to replace for free..
also do some study on that bike of yours, does it even have a time chain,
there are so many sus ppl out there.. dont throw money at your bike if one dude says it has to be done.

but in the end it might have a faulty tensioner and that needs replacing "warrenty"
???anyone out there got a rs250 with 5mm longer rods???

The hyos have had recalls on the cam chain and the tensioners in the past, and is Definately something you want fixed ASAP if your to continue riding the beast. I'm pretty sure it would be covered by warranty too but if your unsure, ring your dealer.

    Thanks for the input!
I've called Dale Britton M/C and they have told me it shouldn't need replacing at low km's. The newer models don't have a recall for this problem.
If it is a cam chain problem it'll be covered by warranty. I was told it's most likely something else causing the noise.
Going to drop it in to them on Saturday to get it sorted out.
    Thanks again.
I'll update the post with the final findings.

    buh bow

Cam chain turned out to be fine. Part of the exhaust had rusted through.
So after a few months of waiting, the new exhaust finally arrived and got replaced.
Now I'm having starting issues every morning. First I though it was stale fuel as it had been at the shop for a few months with a full fuel tank.
Ran through a few tanks of BP ultimate and still having issues.
Could it be the spark plugs. It only has issues starting first think in the morning.

Wait wait wait, you were able to claim warranty on a rusty exhaust? When did you purchase the bike? I'm asking cos I got rust on mine and they said it was an 'environmental wear' and won't cover for it

The bike is about a year old. It's had a bad rattle while riding because a part of the exhaust had rusted and come loose. I took it to Dale Britton Motorcycles and the service manager knew exactly what the problem was.
It was replaced under warranty. I guess a year old bike shouldn't be having these issues with rust.

Bike starts everytime now. Needed a new battery.
