    Hyosung Fuel Injection light problem

    Hi

Are there any Hyo riders that may have had issues with the fuel injection warning light randomly coming on? I have a GV250 and the fuel injection light keeps coming on when I am out riding. I am trying to figure out what may be causing this issue and was wondering if any others have had the same problem and if so what was done to rectify this once and for all? I have had the sensor tested and apparently it isn't that nor is it a faulty warning light. Any thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Never ridden a Hyo but as an educated guess, low/high fuel pressure? (Water in the fuel? Bad fuel? Blocked filter/s?)
I used to have a nice sig offering to shadow ppl. Now I have no sig...

if you've had the sensor and light checked, it may just be a intermittent bug with the fuel injection system. there is a thread about it on korider.com | Hyosung Motorcycle Owners Forum - Index so check it out.

Hey Hyoboy, I had this light come on once on my 2011 gt250 just a few days after I got it. It'd only done a couple of hundred km then, and is now up for it's 1000k service ( bit over a week later ). It hasn't done it since, and there's been no other dramas, so if they can shed any light on it at the service I'll share what I learn.

Yeah mine did it aaat.... like 5000km i think... Turns out i had a shitty rectifier, so the battery was going flat = not enough electricity to power the EFIs
Then again at like 9500 km... This time coz i was spirited country ride on my bike for hours on end... Stopped to get fuel, engine probably heated up like nuts while just sitting there. Was fine when it cooled after a few minutes and i got going again.. This has happened once as well.. The kickstand switch was not all the way out when i started up my bike when went for a spin... So the switch was trying to cut power/fuel to the injectors to turn the bike off (thinking i was riding with the stand down). Simply pulled the lil shaft all the way out and worked fine..

    Thanks guys

Just got the bike back after a week and have been informed that the mechanic used it every day and there was no issue with the FI light coming on! All I can do at this point is try it again to see if the problem has gone away. Yeah I was also told to try charging the battery then take it for a ride ( good one!) which I did and everything seemed ok till I took it out the next night then on the way home .....yes you guessed it the damn thing was on again! When I take it back to the shop they can't seem to get it to come on which is frustrating! Obviously if it won't come on then they can't look to see what is causing it. Once again thanks to all who may have any thoughts on this Hyo issue!

Yes i have always had it come on when low on fuel ? I thought thats what it meant but when ya low on fuel the fuel gages flash but it might just be due to the low fuel mark

Does it still come on? Yeah my fuel guage flashes when low on fuel but this is the FI waring light which just comes on randomly and no-one including the dealer seems to be able to pinpoint the cause! Very frustrating though! If and when it comes on I shut it off and waith 5 secs and restart it goes off and sometimes never comes back on for the remainder of the ride.

The only Hyo EFI information I can find implies that codes should be stored in the ECU memory whenever the light come on.

The factory tool to access the codes seems to be 'just' a switch.

The ECU does not have sensors for fuel level or fuel pressure, so they would not bring on the FI light.

Yeah i had a similar issue crop up on my gv250 also.... i had it come on at random times during a ride. I ended up stopping, turning her off for 30 seconds then restarting her. Light went off.
Ive also had it come on after restarting it too fast after stalling out.
This was while she was still under the 1000km mark.. it seems to have cleared up now, ive done just under 5000km on it, so hopefully its just a running in issue? I have noticed though that it doesnt seem to indicate anything if it goes out after you do a shutdown/restart. I think its only indicating a problem if it stays on and wont clear.
It seems to be a buggy little sensor system that comes on with the slightest provocation so i wouldnt worry too much about the blighter.

Note: personal opinion only, advice only to be taken with a grain of salt.

Thanks for the info Zzar! Yeah well mine is till coming on at 1500km's and only random times too. There is no set thing that activates it but it just keeps coming on! Very frustrating when you read the User manual ands Hyosung say that if it comes on take it staright to the dealer to get it sussed out. Sometimes I can ride it for nearly a week and nothing then all of a sudden bingo there it is! I noticed with mine too if I turn it off and wait a few seconds it stays off after starting it up again, but thats not to say it won't or doesn't come on again. At one stage I was almost believing it was just a faulty warning light but when I ignored and the engine starting sounding like a chaff cutter and even back fired I knew it wasn't. Will just have to keep perservering with it.

Hmmm interesting, doesnt sound like a finiky sensor then does it? I know youve had the ECU replaced and you dont have the water collection issue that mine did, i take it nothing came of the "faulty spark plug" theory then? Ive heard (from the Korider.com website) that some of the imports have been set up with wrong fuel mix program in the ECU system, and a reprogram fixed that, but that was a continual issue with running rough and lack of power.

Stupid thing is that it still sounds like the ECU system.... that computer has so much control and every problem ive had with mine stems from the damn thing. Possibly theres a loose wire in the ECU connector? Or maybe your starting to get the water build up issue?

Edit: just read the service manual link darkfibre posted.... this from page 29.

If the “FI” check lamp “ ” 􀋝 comes on during normal engine operation, it means that the electric fuel injection
    system is not operating correctly.
When this is the case, inspect the electric fuel injection system to refer to “Dealer mode”.

Looking at the list of sensors that the ECU gets info from, it couldbe any part of the EFI system. Have the dealership run "dealer mode" diagnosis every time? cos it does seem to indicate that the ECU stores the last error code each time for display and this should pinpoint the problem.

Hi Zzar, actually when I quizzed them last time it was in the workshop they said they didn't replace the ECU. They did rpace a faulty spark plug (Both I would hope) but when it goes back in I will refer them to the suggestions here on PSB as we all have one thing in common ... we have Hyosungs! Thanks again Zzar

I agree and thank you for all your comments too. BTW do you know if there are any 250 cruiser groups going or even Hyo cruiser group?
