    I bought a bike!

Ahahaha! It's silly, i know, but it's my first bike and i'm excited. Now i just need a helmet and a licence.... haha

It's a 98 GPX-250 with 56,000km or so on the clock. My brother (who has a license) says it rides great, and it looks good to me. Now to find a shadow for practice...

Oooh you dont want the 98, they were notorious for dropping pistons and that costs about 2k to fix. Dont worry that doesnt happen until around 60,000kms though.

Good on ya. I bought a 2007 GPX250 the other week. Having a blast on it.

Now, anyone want to tell me how to change my profile so I can add my bike to it?

    Cheers

    Settings(up the top of screen)
    > General Settings(down the side bar on the left)
    > scroll about 2/3rds of the way down and you'll see it there, near your location etc.

So i took the rack off of the bike last night, and while i was at it the rest of the fairings, too. The guy who put the rack on ought to be shot. wtf. haha. The rack must have been for another bike, so he had to use a couple of short pieces to join the rack to the frame underneath. Which means that as soon as you put any weight on it the rack pivoted down and gouged the rear fairing.

But i also found a bend in the frame. Somehow someone dropped the bike on the bottom of the exhaust (like they were riding along a brick wall and came off, rather than the bike fell over), and this pushed the passenger peg frame up into the rear frame. It's not a huge bend, but i dunno. Is it ok?

    Here're the pics

Here you can see the damage on the exhaust.

This is the bit that's worrying.

looking at those pics and not knowing a thing about GPX's, i'm going to say 2 things.
    1. That's known as your sub-frame and not your frame (frame holds engine, subframe holds seat) so i wouldn't stress to much about it as it only needs to hold your weight and maybe a skinny pillion.
    2. Looks like your bike was low sided and they just turned the exhaust 90 degrees and made some new welds.

Yeah, it's only the subframe. Don't pillion anyone over 40kg and you'll be fine.

Some wise PSB'er told me this protip (can't remember who) so now I'm telling you.

Practice switching to the reserve tank while sitting on your bike in your driveway. You'll need that little move within a week of riding on your own.

Congrats, you appear to have the same homo-purple rims I did. First thing I did was rip those bad boys off and strip them back to nice shiney silver
