Mr M.. off the road for 1 month minimum.. might be a write off

otherwise, i was enjoying myself

Had an earlier close call on a corner with gravel, but stood her back up, braked, and leaned in late.. luckily everyone behind me saw what was going on.. at least that or they thought I was crazy...

I learnt from it.. don't bother cornermarking.. LOL just kidding, pick my stops better!! hahah

But I don't feel too bad, another CM dropped it same situ on Tbones ride

Wife was more upset about the bike than i was... I was just going to repair over time, but she insisted I use insurance... :-)

Anywhoo, I got away lightly, just a bit sore today like I have run a marathon...

Does anyone know how bad your gear has to be to claim on Western QBE??

^^ i'd suggest you can claim for pretty much any damage.

however... be aware of what you're doing to your NCB.

big bore insurance without a NCB is *rapage*.

I'd say repair it yourself if its not too expensive, chances are your excess is about a grand anyway... factor in the detrimental effect to your premium in coming years, and its seriously probably not worth claiming, unless the bike is VERY badly banged up.

I have a $600 excess on max no claim

pretty sure I can claim once per year with no loss.. as I have had no claims in 16 years

the bike talley, and this is just the parts I know of is at least $1500.. mechanic said more like $3k.. before he spotted the bent swingarm...

I was going to just bend out rear brake lever, and replace peg... the do it over time

but wifey was so upset, she insisted that I claim it.. she was more upset than i was as the bike is so new

mind you, I was 19 with a skyline turbo.. so i know about insurance premium rapage

Man, how did the swingarm get bent?
I thought it was a 30kph slide drop

What else is wrong with it?

Shite mate, that is bad news. I am surprised about the swing arm since the rest was pretty light damage.. although a fair bit of it.

I guess it is time to check how the insurance policy is impacted and what it does to your excess and cost. 16 years without a claim, I would hope they treat you right.

Bad news considering you were doing the right thing.

Bugger mate I thought it was only cosmetic damage .... If it's going to cost that much you may as well claim and with QBE you'r max no claim bonus gets locked and you can not loose it but don't quote me on that call them and check...

I saw the damage and didnt think it looked that bad at all - a few scraps here and there but no majors.... let us know how you get on if you go the insurance route.

yeah, it was rideable.. but yesterday morn I thought the balance felt off.. assumed that was because i had to put my right leg on the rear peg

but she went down next to a cerb, so could have hit it?

I actually don't remember too much of the accident now.. shock i guess... lucky I always take notes while I still remember

mechanic at West Coast honda had a look, and noticed the swingarm.. and said i had better go insurance.

I have a $600 excess, and keep my no claim if i only make 1 claim a year

damage list is extensive (and some are only claimed because bike is so new.. they have to replace rather than repair.. which is lucky for me):

right indicators & front bracket
headlight surrounds
gauge cluster cover & possible bracket
right front peg
rear brake lever
tank (small crease we all didn't see)
whole ducktail and seat
touch up (?) paint on frame
front brake lever
throttle grip
right mirror
front mudguard
exhaust
swingarm

and the possibilty of clutch? found a decent lump of grease under bike yesterday

also going to claim jacket and gloves.. I have to post them to Melbourne at my cost??

If they write the bike off they replace new for old, so that's what i am hoping. Repairs will take 1 month minimum in normnal circumstances. But apparently the Honda factory is on their second week of holiday, so this might delay it more.

The worst torture of it all is that I have to ride the boys scooter to work during this time! :-(

Damage is over $1k.. so going in to the copshop today to see if I have to report it.. hope not.. don't want a pineapple on top of all this.

You're supposed to report any accident where damage exceeds $1000, no matter what.

Doubt you'll get a pineapple though, as you weren't doing anything illegal as far as I can tell.

yeah, just got back from the pineapple shop.. it's now $3k and didn't really seem to care whether I report it or not as no injuries, and no other vehicles or witnesses...

so will see what quote comes out as this arvo

Yep. QBE Claim office is in melbourne, I had to do this as well when the ditsy biint hit me. Funnily enough, the gear claim was the quickest part of the whole claim ordeal. I had money in my bank within a week (for my jacket and helmet) IIRC.

Just tell them your helmet took a knock (whether you did or not, who knows, shock is a funny thing) and they'll replace it as well (what-ever you mail them, they'll re-imburse you),I believe they give you 80% of current retail value, or less depending on the age of the item.

Should only cost $50 for postage. It might help, if you have time, to go to a dealership and ask for a quote on the gear you have (no discounts and mail the quote with the gear.

Red face

yeah, I thought about that.. but would never do anything dishonest

according to the form, as the gear is less than 2 years old I should get 100% off retail

but what is weird, is that it doesn't ask for receipts.. i might go get quotes anyway
