Long ride on a small bike..........

hiya guys, I'm thinking about volunteering as a official for the "Quit Forest Rally". The only hassle is it in Busselton and the only way to get there is on the cbr125r.

    I'm a BIG guy and it's a tiny bike.

Do you think I would kill the bike riding it for 4 hours+ at 8,000rpm?
When my CBR125R grows up, it gonna be a CBR600RR.

Anything is possible, take your time, take a scenic route and stop as often as you need to, even if thats a couple of minutes to stretch every hour or so.

I used to do 700k plus days on my old Honda 200 Shadow, ok, it used to take me 10 hours plus with all the stops I did but it was still possible.

just give it a good service befor you go, vary the speed and maybe take a few of the slower roads.,

Also!, you could try your luck with the trainstation , train it into mandurah....i mean people are allowed to take there pedal bikes if they complain buy two tickets...one for you and one for the bike...if your a big bloke im sure they'll see it your way.

Heck, if you are that big and the bike is that small, get a really big bag and just carry it on the train.

Seriously though, I just remembered I did Perth to Bunbury on the Shadow a few years back. Took the coast road (no highway back then). Just cruised at 100 all the way, planned my fuel stops, and had plenty of stop and stretch breaks as well. Busselton isn't that much further.

I rode my postie bike home from Australind, avoiding the highways...
Took about 6-7 hours because I wasn't in a hurry and was happy to get lost every now and then, exploring dirt tracks and various roads between the farms.

    some photos are here

IMO the 125's are a bit small for a 100kg plus person commuting anywhere other than suburban streets and has the goal on moving up to a bigger bike.

    They are puny.

People have toured Australia on SACHS MADASS 125's and toured the world on CT110's.

It'll do it, but it may not be too comfortable. Worry more about your backside than the bike mate.

Ok, I have to ask. Why would a guy your size buy such a small bike? Surely there were 250s for around the same price?

No criticism intended, just curious. Heck, I bought a 650 Hyosung just because I liked the look of it.

what's so strange about someone that size on a 125? they're made to run 2 up lol personally though i went for a 250 road trail bike not as much top speed as the ninja etc but the gearing meant it still took off well and 110km/h wasn't much of a stretch.
But if you're intent on owning a new bike first off they don't come much cheaper than a cbr125 and from what i've seen are better on the road than a ct110 or madass, i made a 400km trip on my 50cc moped when i was 16 just took a jerry can and oil granted i toasted the crank lol but it was shit oil and sitting top speed wasn't the best idea a few decent breaks and speed variation are the key.

Nothing is strange about it. As a commuter I think they are an attractive alernative to a scooter. However if you aren't a 60kg teenager and your goal is to do largish kilometres I think their are far better more comfortable and purposeful choices than a cbr125. It's all down to personal choice and opinions. A few people have offered theirs here.

And If you really must know, someone that size on a bike that small looks pretty fucking funny. Is that people wanted to hear? If you want to have your insecurities affirmed then yes big people look funny on little bikes it's an undeniable fact.

No denying i looked funny on a 50cc 2 stroke moped even funnier was doing wheelies on it. But at 16 no real choice, i was already 90kg and 6'3, i still look funny on my wifes vtr250 at 115kg, even funnier when popping wheelies or dragging the pegs in corners
So i'm in no place to question anyones bike choice lol, i knew why it was funny, just stirring really
It's all the same wind, get out there and enjoy it, if the bike falls apart then buy something more suitable

Of course you can do it. It's not about the bike, but the journey. A 125 wouldn't be my pick, but it's a bike and you'll have fun regardless.

Fuck the haters.. just do it.

Back pack with food drink and clothes and you're good to go.
