    N E W B Brake question

First - I have 'searched' to see if this topic has been covered and found nothing useful.

So either my powers of search are shit, or this is a genuine first.

Monday my front brake started a slight 'grind or rubbing' noise once-per-revolution.

The brakes are working fine, and I can't feel anything foreign on the disc.

Today the brakes seem to be 'grinding' as I pull up to a stop (more pronounced the more 'brake' applied) as well.

I had a service about 1000ks ago, so presumed they would have checked the brake pads at that time.

    So my question:

Is it a result of riding in the rain for the past few weeks, and the brake pads may be "Out of line", do I need new pads or is it something more sinister?

The disc itself seems fine, no groove marks or anything.

My main concern is the caliper will explode while I'm barrelling down the freeway and send me sailing into the newly erected fence on the Mitchell.

    Thanks for you time.

Stop riding it. The front wheel and brake are generally regarded as pretty important features on a motor bike. The noise isn't going to get better by itself.

Pads or Wheel Bearings. Mobile mechanic time it you don't know how to inspect them.

Checked your pads , I asume you have .
If there is run out you would feal a pules in the lever , is there any .
It might just be dirt , in that case use brake cleaner.
If your sus at all on the front brakes, sort it out imidiatly.
sever injery or death may occure.

Never assume. If you don't know enough to identify the problem, get a proffessional or helpful soul to help identify it. Descriptions over the interwebs are never enough, they need to see the actual bike. Call some-one out, and stop riding until this is sorted.

If your Hyo has the original pads then I'd say they need replacing. Can you see how thick the pads are?

Raced to DB - to get them to look at it. I'm working sun up to sun down at the moment, and haven't had time to do a proper inspection.

It turns out (as suggested by blackFZR) that my assumption of "brake checking at service would mean they are fine" was an incorrect and foolish assumption.

Brake pads replaced there and then.

    Another lesson learnt.

Thanks for you help - and quite frankly glad I didn't die a horrible death.
