Good luck mate, i'm sure you'll be fine, And if it rains like it did on my r-e test don't let it bother you just put it out of your head and focus on your riding, remember head checks and speed also.

Most important thing to do is relax.
So many blow it cause of nerves.
If you fail its not the end of the world, Just settle your nerves and ride.
And make sure you headcheck all streets and crossing so he can see your aware of your surroundings.
Good luck.

I’m like 9 lessons in and going for the test next week (thanks Sikpupy) but I probably should have gone for it sooner. Worst case is you fail and have to pay $70 odd for a re-test but you’ll get to experience test conditions, route & nerves. It should be a lot more comfortable the next time around.... That's not bad if you have a spare $70.
But hey, flip side, you could pass and save yourself $100's in fees and be free!

Fail!
Ok guys long story short I failed, when I got back I was convinced I passed but no.
As it turns out another one of my instructors' students was going to take the test today but he went over the handlebars during an emergency stop late yesterday afternoon. My instructor went in this morning and said I'll be taking it instead. We rocked up for the test and the tester got really shitty because they still had the other guys name on the test sheet.
Eventually we set out. Emergency stops went perfectly (in the rain), U turns went perfectly except I was told I failed to head check on one of them - I don't remember not doing this but fair enough. The next thing the tester was not happy about is that I stopped too close to a truck in front of me at a red light (I had no idea you needed to allow a car length distance when stopped but my wife tells me it's common knowledge, so fair enough), the tester said I should have gone around the truck but at that point the road was only one lane wide, which is why I didn't. The deal breaker was I apparently went 65 in a 50 zone, but I know that I had the speedo pegged betwen 45 and 50 the whole time, as I made sure I didn't speed.
On the plus side, nerves were not a factor, and I know what to expect for next time, but due to budget constraints I will not be tested again for at least a month.
The guy here that said that emergency stops are very easy, I agree. U turns are easy after practicing for half an hour at a lesson. So if anyone reading this is being tested soon, don't make the same mistakes that I did and you should be fine
Thanks for the help guys!

Oh well, next time mate.
Least you have a good attitude about it, some people blame everyone else and rant about the world not being fair.
And if you did speed its instant fail, my misses was pegged for it as well in a 40 roadwork zone.

so did you pass!? i read this wayyyyy too late but I struggled with O turns until someone suggested to look into the horizon, and completely block out your peripheral vision, i was looking at the horizon but keeping the kerb in the corner of my eye... which made me VERY aware it was there, therefore i was nervous about hitting it... when i finally blocked it out and concentrated on stuff in the distance, i did it piece of piss...

What, he wanted you to overtake the truck stopped at a red light?? Is'nt that illegal??
Where did you do the test?

I couldn't imagine going for my test after just 5 lessons. I think they only just let me out of the carpark on my 5th! Sounds like you will have it nailed by next month.
I remember when doing my car licence you just had to be far enough back to be able to manourvre around them if they should stop. I passed my 250 test 9 m0nths ago, want to upgrade soon. I wouldn't have known about the full car length thing while stopped. Is it just behind trucks?

Bad luck on the fail, but as others have said use it as a learning experience cause now you have the test experience under your belt and you will nail it next time.
Plus another for the great attitude.

Out of the carpark after 5 lessons?
I was on the road after my 1st??
Don't worry to the OP, you'll smoke it next time. Perfect attitude. All of the shortcomings in your test will be rectified easily with more experience. A good idea would be to check all millions of detailed pass/fail threads in 2fiddy here. They'll give you an idea of where other people have been caught out doing their tests.
Best of luck next time. Where did you do the test???

Hey bad luck mate!
I know what it's like to fail your first test but as everyone says you'll get it next time and forget all about this one.
It's a shame that the your examiner was not given the correct details - the examiners I had were great (even the one I failed with) they actually help with the nerves by being friendly. (took the test at Midland)
Good luck!
