New 250 models
Well, I was looking at the bikes for sale since I got my R/E.. and there are surpringly there are very few reviews out there. Of course every dealer insists their bike is the best, and it suits you the most.
So lets hear it.. which make.model do you recommend/hate, and most importantly.. WHY??
Lets help those shopping for a bike.
e.g.
I looked at the Suzuki Intruder (cruiser style) last night more out of a need for comparison than serious interest. And I have to tell you I was surprised and impressed. Not only is it cheaper than the similar Kawa and Yama cruisers, ther eisn't much between them in features.
The Suzi has 5 litre storage under the seat, bigger more comfortable seats, but is only air cooled. The exhaust has a nice note to it, as you expect of a cruiser, hopefully it only gets better with being run in.
It feels like a full sized bike (too me anyway), and I was surprised by it's take off (I learnt on a 5 year old Honda VTR). I think the VTR is a bit faster, but it should be. The dealer in Vic park quickly dropped $700 off and included on road costs. He also offered the sissy bar and rack for $450 fitted, normally $750.
Overall, it wasn't for me.. I am negotiating Sat for a Honda VTR, but the Suzi Intruder is worth a look if you want a cruiser.

Personally I wouldn't buy new. But for me it would be either the Ninja 250 or the VTR 250 if I had to buy new.
Best advice, is sit on all of them, then ride the ones that feel the best. at the end of the day it's going to be YOUR bike, not everyone elses. Get what you want to get (except a Hyo/Pagsta/Zongshen)

wouldnt buy new either unless you were going to keep it for a while. Ninja would be the go if you were.
Seems you prefer cruisers anyway and the ones you mentioned are basically it.

nah, I was just surprised that I liked the cruiser...
I went for the VTR.. seems perfect size for me, and I'm very comfoirtable on it.. AND the boss says i am keeping it for at least 2 years...
They have been discontinued now, the dealer in Joondalup I went with had 4 left...
The baby ninja wasn't for me, I sat on it for 1 minute or thereabouts and it felt like I was sitting on the tank... it would cut me in half on a long trip, and I'm not a big guy... I couldn't imagine carrying a pillon on it.. I guess the cruisers are really the only comfortbale option for passengers.. although the yamaha seats seemed small as well...
Plus, the kawa dealer in vic park had 22 orders, I would would have been 23 to be delivered in august.. that would be torture...

I recently bought a new VTR250 (love it) I bought it new because 2nd hand they are about 6k and i got mine for 8k the boss says im keeping it for a dfew years (2) so i figured i may aswell spend a bit extra get a new one.
The VTR is awesome, looks awesome, handles well, would probably be one of the quickest 250's on the market. From what i hear extremely reliable!

Comparing the Hyosung GT250 and Ninja interesting.
But as kwakas said just go and sit on all the different types and find what is best for you

Couple of things:
- They're all slow - go with the one you feel comfy on.
- if you're going to "die" after sitting on a gpx/zzr/ninja for a few minutes, then sports bikes are not for you... compared to a big bore sports bike, the faired 250s feel like a harley. you get used to the position though, so i wouldn't write it off too quickly (much of it involves training yourself to take weight OFF your wrists, and use your stomach muscles to keep yourself up instead), if you really want a sports bike, get one and harden the fuck up

none of the 250s on the market now are close to being fast as the 4cy 250s, and none of them are close to the 2 stroke 250s

Hubby and I recently bought 2 VTR's. Firstly because we like the look of the naked bikes and secondly they are comfortable and reliable as well as being reasonable nimble (for a 250). Now after having done about 1000km on them we both can say WE LOVE THEM. A great little bike that's easy to ride and learn on and has good resale value later on too when we decide to upgrade.
