You'll get used to it.
Give it 2 weeks, then come back, your wrists won't hurt.

Poor riding posture: you shouldn't have a lot of weight on your wrists.
I had the same thing when i first started riding road bikes (after about 20-30 minutes), basically you want to take the weight OFF your wrists, and use your torso/stomach to hold your weight up..
In addition to getting sore wrists, i was also getting numb hands...
Now, i can ride 5-6 hours a day and my wrists are fine... my back gets sore if i have to carry a backpack that long though.
edit:
in addition to making your wrists sore, placing too much weight on your hands will also put more weight over the front of the bike... make you grip the bars tighter (to hold yourself up) and affect the bike's handling when hitting bumps, etc...
stuff
this was an absolutly awesome write up!! thanks heaps for all the info!!
i live on the gold coast and i'm looking for my first bike. ive got my heart set on a vt250 spada or vtr250.
i've been to tones of sites looking for info on bikes, classifides, and different moto clubs. this is by far the best site!!
if anyone knows of someone selling a spada up my way or of any sites that can help me out with those few things i would love to know!
thanks again, cheers nick.
Is an aprillia RS 125 comparable to any of these bikes for learning to ride?
thanks for the info lads!
ive been using a lot more of my abs/torso to take the weight off my wrists and it has helped a lot.
pretty different riding posture to the trusty old cb250 learner

A few people here have learned on rs125's. Same power as a 4stroke 250. Different delivery though (strong powerband).
Some people might hate it as a learner and some will love it. Plus it will make yourself learn about that bike and become very mechanically oriented very fast.
If i have had the coin I would've got myself one.
do not be funny ! go stright for some monster ;d
thanx for the thread man.. it really helped ay.. learnt somethings i didnt think i'd learn by reading, great help

I like my cbr250r it the 89 model it has done 54,460kms,Has got enough power of 45Hp topspeed of 190kmh, well balanced, fells very light, good in bends. I payed $5,500 for it and i have had no major problems, I got it from motorcycles plus in kewdale they are realy helpful and know there stuff. The most important thing is that they care about you.
I have just had a accident and the bike is damage but i cant wait to get back on it.
Ride safe and enjoy life..
I didn't see Honda Country on Dixon Road in the Rockingham list of bike dealerships. Great store, got my cbf there and they gave me 1 year rego with some negotiation.
Help please: 1998 gpx 250 or cbr 125 for the same price??? which one do i go for, i was leaning toward the Honda but after reading some of the quotes below i'm no longer sure... bear in mind this is for a daily drive (mostly short trips) Will i at least be able to use the freeway on the 125. It is a much newer bike so for the same money it seems crazy to get an 11 yr old 250...
CBR125 is much slower.. top speed is like 120 (stock, and that is with me on it (~63kgs)) It is fine on the freeway.. but it is fuel injected and is a dream for lane splitting/ tight parking/ tight spots..
comic sans is OKAY!
Hmm that is one good for the cbr and 10 bad... thing is, maybe i am weird and maybe its coz i'm new to this, but i wasn't planning on going faster than 120...i mean as long as i can ride it on the freeway i'm pretty happy!
Of course i'm currently riding my friend's postie bike which has a top speed of 80![]()
get the 250...more power, prob cheaper to fix, parts everywhere...the 125 tyres are a lil scary
Its not so much top speed that is the issue with less power, its how long it takes to get there. if you're going to do a LOT of country/highway riding, a CBR125 will maybe be a bit lacking.
I mean any big bore will do 200+, but its the ability to go from say 80-150 (to pick the gap and get the fuck out of dodge) in the blink of an eye that gets you into/out of shit whilst commuting....
stuff
^ +1.. by the time i have made up the ~50- 100 that i need to achive in order to avoid death/ squishdom i have used all of my gears...
comic sans is OKAY!
yeah, as much as i like the shiny and new thing, oh and the so desperate to sell that he would let it go for just 1700, i think i would be crazy not to get the GPX even if it is a little old. if only i had more dosh... <drifts off to dream land>![]()
that was before i saw the GPX... Honda here i come!!
