    New tyre for Ninja 250R

    Hey all,

Im chasing a new rear tyre for my 2011 Ninja 250R, i have currently got 7,000 km out of the factory tyre, Road Winder RX-01R (130/70-17)

    So what i would like to know is;
What are some decent 250 tyres?
What is the average price range for a 250 tyre?
Where would you recommend/purchase a tyre from locally?
Would you place a larger than factory stock tyre on your bike (eg: moving up from 130 to 140/150) and if you did, would this have any implications to the bike?
    thanks all

Apart from the dead rubber it came with, i've only used Pirelli's, in particular the diablo rosso corsa's. Ring around and get quotes.

Going to a bigger profile tyre, i'm pretty sure, tips in slower? Correct me if i'm wrong

And don't skimp on rubber. If you're using it for commuting, yeah go for a commuting tyre that'll get more kms & suits your riding.

I upgraded the rear on my ninja to a 140, pilot power (back before the pures existed, not sure if they still do the size).
Got lots of life out of the tyre and more grip than I would ever need with the available power.
    I say go for it.
We are small and exposed, and probably moving too fast for our own good, but that's no reason not to enjoy every minute of the ride.

    Michelins or Bridgestone.
shop around for best price....Tyres for Bikes, Motorcycle Pitstop, Motorcycle Masters

    Larger rear tyre? No

tbh, I wouldn't go overboard. replace the rear tyre if its bald. Otherwise save ya money for the bigger bike.

Mate i would not go a larger tyre unless your rim is suited for it coz ive got one (guy i bought the bike from put it on) thats only 10mm too big on the back and the sides have ballooned out and if ive got any sort of decent lean angle going on i can feel it change shape and move around which is slightly unsettling at the least.

Little brother (MINSA) has Sport Demons on his 250, fitted by tires for bikes of course and he loves them. I myself love Pirelli's but that's because of my tire preference (sport/track). If your into riding hard might be worth checking if you can get Pilot road 2's fitted as they're dual compound. I know they will fit to the GT250r not sure about your ninja (looking at around $209 though). Realistically either of those two tires you have mentioned will do you well. Bridgestone can get fucked.

Yeah couldn't agree more, I am loving the new sport demons, though anything is better than the stocks. I now have way more confidence in the corners way more grip it is really hard to explain just how different the bike is after new tyres. When it came down to it I didn't get the pilots Rd 2's because I couldn't justify spending that much on my 250, as I would rather save that gear for when I get my big bike.
But it all depends on what kind of riding you will be doing and it is your choice in the end. Either way you will notice a massive improvement with new tyres mate.

Cheers Solid, you know exactly how i ride!
I've decided to go the Pirelli, getting it fitted this arvo, run it in tonight on the WSR, as the Pilot R2 are a larger tyre, not recommened for the Ninja....

Im only getting a rear fitted Minsa, as the front is bloody brand new stock tyre still, so im hoping i will still get a decent improvement out of the new rear!

Not sure how you will go with two different tires I would be inclined to replace both, chat to the guys doing the fitting they will be in the know. Either way enjoy!

It's a good idea to get matching rubber as Solid's hinting at. Depending on what Pirelli you bought, the profile could be steeper compared to the front. Meh up to you dude
