Newbie Lingo

I've only really been into motorbikes for a little while and as such, I'm not down with the lingo that gets banded around here.
For instance, it took me ages to work out what 'splitting' was.
The idea of this thread is really to explain the slang that gets used on here in relation to motorcycling.
If you more experienced riders and the kids down with the slang want to post what it means in this thread, it might help people like me!

Splitting: Driving between the 2 lanes of traffic on a dual carriageway (freeway etc.)

Dude best you just ask for definitions in each thread. No one will judge you except maybe Desmo and Maxo. Generally avoid anyone who's forum name ends in 'O' and you'll be fine.

Here's a couple obvious ones:

Wheelie: Riding the bike on just the back wheel without crashing.
Stoppie: Riding the bike on just the front wheel without crashing.

See I used the search engine but searching for 'splitting' is useless as it comes up in pretty much every on-topic thread at least once.

If everyone else thinks its a useless thread then delete it.
Personally I think having somewhere where people who dont know what you experienced riders are talking about half the time is pretty useful.

It may have been discussed ad nauseum, but try searching or googling it and you get pages of threads and no real definitive answers.

I also notice that everyone thats posted in here has 1000+ posts. Any other newbies want to contribute?

I must admit I was surprised that there wasn't some form of glossary, or at least if there was, not a very obvious one...Of

See, I had to search a good couple of pages to even work out what a 'Squid' is. This is why I reckon having a glossary of terms is useful, much like the list of learner bikes stickied in this section.

It's not a bad idea. There was an atempt at this with some abreviations, ie afaik, which you then could hover over and you would get the explanation. But not sure if it was too hard to incorporate it or too much work to maintain.
