    Performance pipes and the Police.

Im am about to order a Yoshimura Slip on pipe for my ninja 250. Im not really after any performance increase and I doubt it would give much anyway, but I do like the sound of the pipes opposed to the stock ninja one. But before I go order it was wondering what experiences people have had with the police with these exhausts? How many have been yellow stickered for em? The pipe im ordering says it has removable low volume inserts but Im wondering if anyone has had experience with these inserts and do they make the sound low enough to be in the guidelines of the law ?

With a street legal 'insert', I'd almost bet money you won't encounter issues with the law. Even if you do, all it means is you bolt/slip off the yoshi, and slip on your standard pipe.

Semi and the other guy are right though. You're going to be spending an inconceivable amount of money that is going to make your bike sound worse.

Just leave the baffle in and you should be fine. If a cop is feeling like a douche he can give you a yellow sticker which doesn't carry a fine but you have to go over the pits to get removed. If you hang on to your standard end can it's just a case of swapping them over for the inspection and changing it back to the slipon when you pass. The inspection should cost around $65.

Enjoy the noise, not many of your mates will

Ha ha, they do sound fairly revolting with those pipes - there's a twat around the corner from me with one and I don't know what it is with them but gee it sounds bad. Like someone trying to drown a giant owl.

Just do it kid, ignore these boring old bastards ............

Everytime time you fire it up you will get an erection.

The cops will probably leave you alone if your not riding like a dickhead.

The stock 250r sounds fucking terrible and those Yoshi slipons do make a big change. It wont be growling or dropping any panties as you cruise by but it will actually make the bike bearable to listen to.

The muffler fell off my rusty SR250 in the early 90s. It sounded similar. I thought it sounded tough then, too.

One of the few things I look back at my life, see, and cringe.

If it sounds offensive, cops mite yellow licky you... hell, if I could, I'd yellow licky all 250s with an aftermarket pipe starting with, CBR250RRRRRRRRR, closely followed by the hyoschlong, and Ninja250r rounding out the top 3. If we can do a citizen's arrest, maybe we can hand out yellow licky's too?

I kid, I kid, your bike dude, do whatever you want. As long as you're happy with it, all good Seems most cops wouldn't know a stock pipe from an aftermarket one, but is more easier to judge things like fender eliminators without knowing much about bikes. I got done for going up a one way street and the cop wrote the description as "a black motorcycle" - not even make or capacity.

There's some things I'm willing to take the risk for, and others I'm not e.g. have got a link pipe on and love the sound of the zorst as a result - willing to take the risk for this, but I'm not willing to take the risk for a fender eliminator. Do what makes you happy, and you can justify the risk of unwanted attention it may bring.
